Thank you both. No, not a wind-up Barny! I couldn't find anything on the comparison sites I normally use.

MW now 5/4 fav and PP drifted to 9/2. I reckon it proves only one thing. Bookmakers odds are bollocks when it comes to very small markets!
Now that we have mutual agreement on pinchy!

Yep, it's all guesswork. I hope they' re right, but I doubt it.

He's turned down the chance MW according to daily mail. He wants a job closer to home

For me the article is absolute nonsense.
-No source of info
-No quotes

Just simply looking to make something up to get some late night views IMO.

Just heard that Nick Clegg has got it. They found out he was out of work, plus they haven't got to change the initials on the tracksuit again. See, they're always thinking liberally our board.

Where does it say he wants a job closer to home? Can't see that?
I could have swore I read he was waiting for an opportunity at a London club. I saw the article on news now before if was posted on here but just checked and that has no mention either. Maybe I'm just cracking up after the events of today. Time for bed!!!

Danny bloody Wilson @ 16/1?

Nige, Nige we were jokin, Nige

Danny was a mite unfortunate when a certain player disqualified himself to move to alternative lodgings. Again he was sacked when he may well have finished the job he started.
Now , when all the dust has settled and a lot of water has gone under the bridge, had we stuck with Danny, he MAYhave come good.

What is the point of appointing, sacking, appointing and sacking managers who ,when given the boot ,move round the circle to get another job in the same league AND DO WELL AGAIN.
Had we persisted with Danny rather than appointing Weir, he might well have taken us up.

I'm sorry, but anyone who's team has been flying in this division or the one above are going to look higher than league one, and such a high risk job. Our choices are from people who did well in the league below, who inevitably will be light on experience or heavy on past baggage. Or, people sacked from the league above. I think someone sacked from the Prem (Poyet) would look higher than us. I think from this stock Adkins would be the best choice.

Absolutely disagree. 20k crowds? Great stadium? Zero expectations? Rather than trawl through the usual failures, we must aim higher. Adkins, Warburton or Allardyce would fit. However, given our board's past record, I wouldn't rule out...

...Steve McLaren. :eek::eek::eek:

Have I? Do list all the clubs who have won trophies in those years.

Did you watch the dicumentary on the Crazy Gang - The one tactic being Lurch running up to and beyond the halfway line and whacking it in the general direction of the opposition goal for two huge forwards to battle for constant 50/50 balls. Deeply embarrassing non-football! And there, orchestrating the whole shameful exercise - our hero Dinosaur Dave.

Allardyce a dream? A nightmare for proper football fans mate. I want our club to go back to the Harris days mate. A winning team playing football to be proud of. If Bassett is the standard you aspire to, that's your call, but don't announce it outside s2. People like that Australian bloke will laugh.

Pinchy, I agree, I so enjoyed the Harris way, If only we could do that now. Unfortunately there are a lot of big evil bastards, that cannot play the beautiful game, but who are paid stop those who can.
With scant protection from poor referees., do you think that we should capitulate, or soldier on, with our principles?

I am hoping we didn't sacked NC without having a replacement ready? Or did the board just tell MW Cloughs spent all the cash and we still want promotion next season with that squad.

Board "mark we are interested in you taking over from Nigel Clough"
MW "ok what would be my budget?"
Board "well to be honest mark there isn't one"
MW "excellent so it's an open cheque book?"
Board "sorry mark no we mean there is no budget Nigel Cloughs spent all the cash so we'd like you to have a go with the current crop, maybe bring in a few on freebies"
MW "thanks guys but not with that team average height of 5ft 2 and no centre half.?"
Board "Brayford Can play there"
MW "isn't he injured?"
Board "yeah but only til Christmas"
MW "thanks but no thanks"

On holiday with pants Internet when this broke!

Outside of warburton and Adkins I don't see many who would get the fans and players on the same page. We need a positive outgoing manager who is going to bring a talented bunch of youngsters out of their shell and I rule out Robinson because he will want a pop at the championship.

I wouldn't have a problem with Phil Parkinson, however before appointing him I would be looking in Scotland at teams such as hearts, Aberdeen and Dundee United(McNamara I think) and seeing if that's a way to go.

We've got to get behind the best guys and even the clough fans had their doubts about him. I personally feel we are now stabilised and now need a fresh approach to get the job done.

Can people please stop mentioning allardyce, Adkins I can just about understand as a realistic target but allardyce might just think the job is beneath him
