.....we were to beat Swindon by 0-2 or whatever is needed to win tonight, who thinks that we'd just be in for a disapointment of Huddersfield (play off final) proportions against PNE in the Final???

With Prestons play off record I'd fancy our chances.

If we win and go through tonight I'll be willing to believe almost anything!

Bring it on!

i dont think quite on the same scale as hudderfield (its hard to beat that one) but we would still lose . not sure how we would do it but we would...

Sadly, I can't see anything but a defeat tonight (hope I'm wrong) but if a miracle were to happen, with ours and Prestons play off record, we could still be taking penalties against each other at Christmas!!

Trying to think of a way we haven't gone out that can piss us off altogether with the play-offs. So I'm going for the blades to put in a great performance but to get knocked out in the last min of extra time.

How's about we all lighten the fcuk up, go to (hopefully) both matches with a smile on our faces, have a laugh and a few beers with fellow Blades, go into the stadia with a skip in our step, sing and jump about for 90 mins and countenance nothing but Championship football next season?

Heroic failure :( = Club Motto

True...I first started going in 96/97 and in that time I've seen us take part in:

4 play-off finals
7 play-offs
1 season in the Premiership
5 cup Semi-finals.

A lot of heartache along the way but I would rather have it like that instead of getting knocked out of the cups early and finishing mid-table.

I honestly thought when Scougal put us back in front Vs Hull just before Half-Time at Wembley I thought we had turned that corner, knowing how to win a Big One

Are you on glue? ;)

The more relevant record for Preston is one defeat in 21 games against League One opposition (22 if you include their cup win at BDTBL)

We're going to have to let it be, it's not happening this season, we aren't good enough.

I think our season was truely summed up in that play off defeat to Swindon:
Only scored 1 goal, couldn't hold ontoor increase the lead, then lose!

I said yesterday whoever goes through tonight will go up, don't ask me why but i just think it will be the case. I am probably more confident of a Swindon win than ours but IF we did make it then i give us every chance of finally going up through the playoffs.

I guess the rationale goes somewhat like this.

You get kicked in the bollocks and it smarts

You offer your gnads up a few more times and get caught squarely in the knackers, repeatedly.

After a while you get the feeling that offering your gnads up yet again and expecting a different outcome is a rather fruitless exercise.

Consequently you'd like to keep your man droplets out of harms reach. Your partial to the odd tea bagging but laces to the plums is really becoming a proper phobia.

Then again we could all take up Morris dancing - They skip and sing and jump about a bit - and they look far less stupid at the end of the season than we normally do :o

Or, to use a different sample size, 1 defeat in 3 that cost them automatic promotion. This despite Chris Porter sending a penalty into a duo-synchronous orbit with Simmo's

Its great how we can seemlessly look for the bleakest outlook even in a moment of euphoria
woohhoo wembley here we come oohh bloody hell ,

I dont think we should tempt any fate . The Gods have been against us even going back to Don Givens missed penalty against Walsall , Mark Stein 90th minute winner at Chelsea , and the heartache of both relegation and promotion play offs , we have experienced. Lets see what we do against Swindon , and IF successful , then think about Preston then , not before .

A big task of character tonight , and with a win , Preston would be as concerned about us , as we are them.

Form means nothing at Wembley , its getting there thats the problem

Without Simmo and Porter I quite fancy pens.
