Why the over reaction again??

He was, he was telling them to get back and defend the one nil lead! But alas it bit them in the arse with no time to alter it. For me they have got to get a second whilst we're on top and then defend if that's their bag.......

Lets face it, after Yeovil anything short of a three or four nil victory today he was going to get a kicking on the boards from some.

,it's the Blades way UTB

No over reaction from me just a realisation that we'll be in this same division come August.

I was a regular until the other season and now I pick and choose and today I picked. I thought it would be a great pick what with us trying to clinch a play off spot and a rivalry they have enginered. A rivalry that apprared on john street about 3pm #aggro.

What I got was a disjointed team and disjointed crowd. We weren't rubbish by any stretch but what we were was everything that fuels the Clough out fire. After our goal we sat back it was laughable and then after the sending off we never got a kick.

Negative, positive or whatever you want to do I want us to suceed we all do but i'm afraid i can't see it.

a point today was not a bad point, the important thing today was that we didn't lose as Bradford could well have caught us then, and i for one didn't think the performance was that bad at all, Coutts, Baxter and freeman played especially well i thought. Yes it was a very sloppy frustrating goal but i didn't think they really deserved it as i thought we were comfortable at 1-0, Clough said in his interview that he couldn't understand why the team sat back, and sat behind him i could see him trying to get the players out, that backed up by the change to put Adams on isnt that an attacking change? Today was summed up by an idiot in the 91st minute shouting at clough "cant even beat 10 men, absolutely shite". If they hadn't have scored today there's no way people would be slagging off clough for that performance

Cant we just get behind them till the end of the season without booing every performance which isnt perfect?! UTB
we have some idiotic fans who just dont understand the game Wabaw and have to have a scapegoat i hope they continue
to bait cloughy and leave the players alone it will not bother him any as i am sure he will welcome it if the players are left alone to get on with it.All clubs have a minority number of fans who just cant wait to get on the players backs we have a
fair few and no matter what we did would pick the first chance to attack the club and players.
If they supported barca and be winning 9 nil that would,nt satisfy them nothing will what unhappy lives they must lead .
Let the rest of us be positive as we can do it the players will be more relaxed in the play off games as the struggle to get there has taken its toll on us fans as well as the players .COME ON YOU BLADES.

Our limp towards the playoffs is turning into a crawl. Shaping up as well as usual then.....

Whilst I'm always the voice of hope and encouragement on match days I don't think the eternal optimists amongst our support have any justifiable right to be critical of those who voice their discontent. A lot of us are completely fed up, failure after failure with the same mistakes repeated and alarming signs of continuing on the same cycle.

Other clubs pull their finger out and change their fortunes, they respond to failure by getting things done at the next attempt. Our club waits for its luck to change instead of making it happen.

I 'm absolutely cock a hoop that we managed to get a point against Bradford. Shows how far we've come as a club.

I think if we'd not put in absolutely dig dirt performances in almost every league game this season, fans might be more positive,

maybe if they televised them they'd bother trying?

He certainly spends a lot of time shouting and gesturing at them to get forward for a man who wants them to sit back.

...and.

That's a separate issue, but he certainly appears to be asking for the opposite from the sidelines more often than not.

That, like much of what we're seeing on the pitch, is no more than 'shadow play'. Clough and his sidekicks spend all match affecting this faux outrage when their well-rehearsed  tactics such as set pieces don't come off. It's designed to portray 'Well we spent all week telling them what to do! If they've can't do it, it's not our fault.' Pass the buck.

There was a prime example yesterday. There wasn't much time left, we'd let in yet another soft goal, we had key strikers on the bench, the opposition was down to ten men (prime 'Let's hang on for a draw' territory for Clough) and we'd abandoned midfield. Defending yet another corner, the furthest United player upfield was on the edge of United's penalty area! (You read it right.) Howard claimed the ball, looked upfield in vain for an outlet, the crowd moaned and Clough et al went into a furious pantomime of 'GET UPFIELLLLDD!!!'

Hardly likely when there's about a hundred yards to go and Bradford - in their tactical naivety - have left sufficient cover in the unlikely event of United doing something tactically outrageous. Such as bringing on the speedy Done and leaving him up near the halfway line.

But what do I know?

So when they're not passionate it's because they don't care but when they are passionate it's because they don't care...but they are pretending they do?

Faced with that assessment they've got no chance. :(

Such as bringing on the speedy Done and leaving him up near the halfway line.

A team with 10 men at 1-1 is not going to overcommit men forwards at a corner, so clearing the ball quickly will result in a small, quick, outnumbered forward most likely losing possession. And even if he does gain possession precisely bc of his speed he will be isolated so unless he scores an individual goal (which Done has done - Peterborough?). Most likely outcome the 11-man team ends up on the back foot having conceding possession.

OTOH if the 11 men play it out from the back (the quicker the better though) then they can try to use their man over. It might not always work but it seems like the best allocation of resources.

Oh, FFS! I'll try and put this in as few syllables as possible. Managers do not have to be either 'ranters' (Clough, Warnock, O'Neill etc.) or 'statues' (Robson, Weir etc.) There is a middle ground, you know? The best managers - even at this level - (Rob Page, John Gregory earlier in the season) endlessly offer encouragement, praise, direction etc. The do not spend all game ranting at their own players or the fourth official. What good does that do? Phil Parkinson yesterday was more animated than most, but he rarely totally lost his rag.

Yes, but a small, quick - outnumbered - forward will at least offer some outlet. Owing to his size, he'll hardly be better utilised defending a corner, will he? And yes, he will be isolated. Possibly he could 'hold the ball up' (Yes, I'm sure I've seen that somewhere) until support arrives. *But this won't happen because our 'speed of break' is so pedestrian it's laughable. Watch MoTD or TFLS. I have never seen a team break forward so slowly or unenthusiastically as the current United one.

In all my time going to the lane I have never ever known it like a library, just lately you could hear a pin drop even the away fans are commenting on this. That itself tells you what the majority of fans think about the goods on offer this season.

How the hell do you expect the players to give 100% when the fans aren't?
For example, did you see the atmosphere the Leicester fans made yesterday or the Palace fans in recent weeks.
Sometimes, the fans have to get up of their backsides and make a noise to get something going. Imagine what a racket could be made with everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.
We're in the play offs, ffs !

Just maybe the players ought to give the fans something to sing about, Unfortunately the players need the fans to lift them and the fans need the players to lift them. Hopefully in the play offs everyone is working as one, that being the case someone's in for a battering.
Onwards and upwards

Just to add balance, a good mate of mine - a Spurs fan working in Sheffield - blagged a couple of tickets for the Wendy v Huddersfield night game a few weeks ago. He's got no axe to grind, but he said he couldn't remember a 'deader' atmosphere, shittier pitch or utter paucity of skill on display.

It's not always as portrayed on 'Football Heaven'.

Two way street that one .

Would Leicester fans be like they were if they had not won there last 3 matches - don't think so . They have been given a glimmer of hope and can see some light at the end of the tunnel. They are in a fight in the premiership , we are also in a fight in league 1.

The management and players have to lead . I will take my hat off to the Leicester board , with sticking with Pearson , as with form and off field escapades , i thought he would have got the sack.

Says something about perhaps sticking with a manager , in good and bad times

John Gregory and rob page, now there's two successful managers

Is it really an overreaction though?

The league position isn't great but it masks a season of almost universally poor, boring and lethargic performances. Mostly creating little and being poor at the back.

We've spent much more than other clubs. Our quad is much bigger than other clubs.

It just doesn't get better.
