I used to live on the same cul-de-sac as Paul Beesley in Dronfield. He never mowed his lawn and the grass was about a foot high. Vinny Jones, who lived nearby, used to give him a lift in "Vinny' s Vauxhall". Also saw Brian Gayle round there shortly after he signed for us.

I went to that school, 74-79.

I also played on them same playing fields. Our English teacher, Baz Wainwright, also doubled up as games teacher. He played semi-pro for some team out near Dronny I think and was about 6'2". He would pick himself in the sides for the game (it was always football, thank fuck) and one ball came out from a corner at his end out to our wingback on the touchline backing onto those houses of Bunting Nook. The wingback took off toward the ball, so did Baz. Baz slid, studs up, straight into the wingback (we were year 9 and he was about 5'1") in what was one of the most full blooded tackles you'd ever see. The smack sent him up in the air, arse over tit, and he almost completed and full somersault before he landed off the pitch. Baz calmly collected the loose ball, stood up and laid it off square. In another game he elbowed another lid in the mooey and took out two teeth.

Met tony agana at manchester airport in the toilets on my wedding day i.was flying off on honeymoon and I made him wait in the bogs till I hurriedly washed my hands so I could shake his hand and tell him how brilliant he was..

I met Stephen Quinn on the day we beat Oldham first game of the season under Wilson. He signed an autograph for my son and I couldn't really understand a word he said, seemed nice tho!

I shook Steve Thompson's hand at Old Trafford and wished him good luck against Newcastle. I was very drunk at the time and he seemed to have a resigned look in his face, though it could have been pity... or disgust. Either way, I seem to remember we were chanting Spackman's name shortly after.

When I was about 10 I saw Colin Morris in the old asda at handsworth. I went over and said are you Colin Morris. As if there was two people who looked like Colin!!!

My son played for Staveley WMC u15s during the 2012-13 season and Paul Beesley's younger son played for the same team. I often took him to training on Wednesday nights (Paul often works in Ipswich). Lovely family

Over the years I often meet Blades players and ex players from us and snorters as they are/have been my neighbours. Most have moved on now, I'm told United used to have a house they loaned to players until they got settled. Page and Asaba are still here though. If I meet them on a neighbourhood do or just walking the dogs in the woods we speak but I never talk football unless they bring it up. They know I'm a blade. John Harley was a genuine guy as was Nigel Worrthington but when we went to theirs or out for a drink people would just walk up with a daft grin or walk up and talk all things Wednesday. Embarassing, that's why I don't. Brian Gale, nigel Worrthington and Pembo have joined in with our youth training on a ad hoc basis, nice for the kids. went on jollies to Bhamas and went down to pool with kids in Blades shirts and a big Wwwoooooooooo went up as we sat down, it was

Since I don't live in Sheffield I don't see many Blades players around here but I have met and talked to Dion Dublin in B&Q in Stratford and met Alan Hansen in the toilets at the Varsity pub near the University of Warwick in Coventry. Met Terry Butcher at a function when he was manager of Coventry.

Saw Stephen Quinn and Derek Geary in the pub after the England vs. Uruguay game in the summer. Saw James Harper in Meadowhall before I watched Skyfall. I think I saw George Santos in a clothes shop near fargate once but I am not too sure about that one.

When playing Sunday league back in Sheffield we were lucky enough for our manager to arrange for Keith Edwards to train with us one night. Mostly a team of 12-13 year old Blades we were very happy young fellas! I even had my haircut especially as he was my hero. I think it was around 1984 from memory?

He signed our arms (I didn't wash for a week!) and I remember my proudest moment during a stint in goal he took about 8 kids on and scored a belter from around 12 yards out. Was probably a bit mean of him but funny at the time. Was a friendly guy and better than the cynical and miseable git we hear on Radio Sheffield these days! : ) I then went onto delivering his Sunday paper after he'd split from the mrs' and lived in a maisonette in Norton. Don't think he recognised me.

Mention of Steve Thompson reminds me I've played cricket against him a couple of times. He played for Bracebridge Heath 2nd xi, their 1st team was made up of nearly eleven Lincolnshire Minor Counties players.
I walked out to bat at my usual 10 or 11 to be met with the usual comments about being a number 11/10. His comments didn't last for long when I told him he would have to tell me about the goal he scored at Norwich.
He was a good laugh and when I saw him in future seasons as a spectator or player he would say hello.
As an aside we won promotion that season into the ECB League so didn't play against him again for a couple of years. Never came across any other footballers. Interestingly we now get the referee Gary Surton who is an umpire.

Alex Sabella in 79 pushing a shopping trolley in Sainsburies on The Moor one Thursday night. I wish I'd spent some time noting what the boy from River Plate had been buying, as I'm not sure 70's Sheffield (even Sainsburies) catered for the South American palate. Sadly, I was too busy staring and genuinely in awe. You forget what it's like to meet your heroes when you're a kid.

Danny Wilson in Brentford. I was sat outside that Fullers pub (the one used in that Green St film) after the game when he walked past. As the ground has no car park the players coach parks at the local primary school and is driven round to the ground to collect the players. I was well gone and shook his hand and mumbled some nonsense about getting us up. He said he would try..... Not exactly an inspiring speech in the Gladiator class, mind you he was lucky I didn't fall on him..

Petr Kachuro at the Beauchief Hotel when I was at a wedding. He was ok and posed for pictures with the kids, but really hadn't mastered English. Mind you if I had an interpreter who looked like his I would be a slow learner too, absolute crumpet!

Chris Wilder on the tube after Wembley. He looked as shell shocked as we all did. A true Blade.

Three of us were friends with John Burridge's son Tom as a kid, and we used to go round a lot and as you can imagine John was a fucking legend. The season after he left the Blades he decided to take us to a blades pre-season game at Scunthorpe in his old Porsche. 2 of us were in the boot, however it broke down half way there and we got towed back to Sheffield and never saw the game

Great memories though and a really nice guy (well what I can remember)

just realised i saw Danny Wilson the day after he got the united job at a pub in Chesterfield. Was having a chinwag with his mate. Had a grin like a Cheshire cat. A friend posted some pics of herself with again Danny Wilson at a pub she works in in Chesterfield last week having a right old laugh. He got sacked by Barnsley the next day.
