What an important win today was, just looking at the league table, if we had lost we would be in 9th place 15 points off 2nd and 13 points off Preston...and the vultures would have been circling.

Funny how relatively quiet it is on here when we beat a decent team and get a good result, as opposed to if we had lost!

A long way to go and a tough task ahead of us, but a huge win and step in the right direction. Well done Clough and the lads.

We need to go on a reyt run and get back in contention of the Auto's.
Well done today Blades!

noticed brian the blades changed his attack to wheres the money prince on RS He wins todays arsehole of the day award

we have made some moves we are awaiting some replies , dont happen in an instant we arent buying a big mac

todays attack by that real NBW was Cloughs handling of Reed. This from a 'top' junior manager ,in his own mind who used to make the worst 11 year olds wear a dummy round their neck in training.
The man is a total cock.

Save yourself time and quotes and make him arsehole of the year.

Brian wins arsehole of every day award... His comments are cringeworthy and he's a poor spokesman for the Blades fans..but at least he calls in.

Agree with the OP it was a huge win. I looked at the table this morning and was thinking if we don't win today there is literally no chance of catching the top four. It's still going to be very difficult as we didn't show enough consistency in the early part of the season but I hope we have learned something as a group and will use the cup runs to kick us on in the league. We certainly have a big enough squad to cope.

I would like to see today's eleven plus Reed as the platform to build on though. I think the last two games have shown that we have found our best 11/12. It's up to the lads outside that to break into that group. The great thing is that J Wallace, K Wallace, Adams, Alcock etc. are all good enough to put pressure on them. We can do so much better if we really put the effort in between now and May.

Wallace coming off the bench is great news. He could make such a difference to our season.

After listening to the first hour of P&G tonight I can only assume the pre-requisite for any caller is to have some forms if mental deficiency. For example, 'Blades fan' calls up with main purpose to praise Stuart Gray, 'Chesterfield fan' calls to say doesn't want his team to reach the play-offs and 'wendy fan' says 'i'll stick my neck out and say Wendy won't reach the play-offs '. Fuckin' retards the lot of 'em.

Great win today, lets hope it's a catalyst and we go on another run like we did in the latter stages of last season! COYRAWW

Great win today, the difference between the teams as I saw it was that United held their composure at the start of the second half and they didn't, they were content with kicking everything in sight. After the first half it could have gone either way but we took it away from them. Between our goals we were utterly dominant. If they'd played like they did when they went 2-0 all afternoon it could have been different but they were too busy being thoroughly unpleasant.

The whole team stood up to be counted, hard to pick fault with any of them, not sure what we paid for McEveley, but what a player he has turned out to be!

Personally think.comments like yours pinchy blade pickers etc are far more incendiary than someone moaning about a bad result
take me for example I've been moaning non stop since August about the direction I think the club is heading
I came on here yesterday to find out we were 2 up against Preston and I was fucking ecstatic ,far happier than I have been for any of the meaningless cup wins

Now why would I come on here to start moaning being that the blades hAve put me in the best mood I've been in on a Saturday night for yonks ?

You however and pinchy who is trolling the shit out of every thread on here trying to get a rise

I have to ask why ?
Are you not as happy about us winning as I am or all the other non blade wankers who want us to lose like me ?

I count myself as a clapper, but also pointed out where we would have been in the league table if we'd lost on Saturday. I don't think it's incendiary at all, just pointing out what a vital win it was. Thank god we won.

judge I think the point is that when we have a bad result there are many on here that do not allow any chance of realism or positivity. It's very true that those same people disappear with a win.

I don't have a problem with negative comments as such, my issue is that there is a failure to reason with many, a case in point being 'the amount of money spent on transfers' issue, I chose this one as its one particularly close to your heart. As we're now finding, signings such as MacEveley, Harris, JCR, McNulty, Basham are all performing extremely well (as are academy players) and I think they were all free or extremely low fees. The signings which we paid money for (notably Higdon and J. Wallace) have yet to show their worth.

The starting 11 from yesterday was excellent, like it was last week in the very very meaningful FA Cup game and dare I say that we're begining to get a settled side. Personally I wouldn't even mess with the back four. I'd leave Alcock and Basham out until such times that we have out of form players or injuries. It's taken a while but at the half way stage of the season were looking strong and settled with a squad of strength in depth.

True some signings aren't working out, some are working better than expected and some have needed some work to get the best out of them. We're a work in progress still, just like several sides above us.

It's strange isn't it? 'Brian the Blade' always seems to get on - couldn't be that RS make sure his pearls of wisdom are imparted every night (in other words, it's probably RS who call him)?

And more people would ring in if they knew they wouldn't be lumped in with Brian and the other fucking idiots who ring this programe.

When we lose ,does anyone come on here saying anyone not pissed off about it shares a brain cell with anyone else like minded ?
Do they come on here and imply that the reason they are not posting is because they don't love the club ?
Do they come on here telling people not to criticise the manager in the shout box during games or not to comment in the shout box on performances unless they are at the game ?

No they don't but it seems if you are permanently delirious about the team no matter how shit they are playing then this reserves you some specially attained superbladeness status that means when we win you can come on here and goad other blades and act superior to them

This is the point I (and the OP) was getting at. I don't think anyone is how you describe above, but just because people don't self combust at a defeat or a few poor results it doesn't also mean that the few of us are in a permanently delirious state.

In fact when we do lose, most of us with reasonable comments of positivity are often shot down exactly how you describe above. Yet when you question the negativity of some, you get very little back worth debating, hence the reason many of us just don't bother at times

Its the way they do it ,ridiculing the club and taking piss out of anything they can. When we have played well and won some actually seek out negatives to comment on. There is no constructive criticism or debate with some it is just outright insults and ridicule of the club they supposedly support ,although I do doubt one or two.

Ah, but Sitters, we never ever do play well. When we win it's usually because we were lucky or the opposition were garbage, added to which we're in a useless league which we should be walking all over!

Best thing about yesterday, other than the result, was that we went through the middle much more in the first half. That frustrating sideways stuff had gone. I hope for much more of that.

Well done though United, you kicked off a top pub crawl around Sheffield! :D

Great result yesterday, I was a tad disappointed to not keep a clean sheet, but to be fair, Preston deserved at least a goal. Blades were somewhat toothless in the first half, we certainly weren't going to score, and Preston could (and should) have bagged a goal, as they were the better side in the first half. They had quite a bit of class up front, and I think our back four, which has been pretty solid for a few weeks, found it hard to respond to their pace and creativity. Preston should feel hard done by with 0-0 at half time.

2nd half was far better for us, the early goal boosted spirits and of course it was our golden boy McNulty that scored with a poacher's finish. Remember when we were all bemoaning the lack of a decent striker at the start of the season? Well I think Sparky fits in that mould, and is getting more and more confident with each game. Our performance in the middle third of the 2nd half won us the game, JCR's finish was magic, and the team played in a very positive, forthright way, which is exactly how it should be at home. Someone mentioned earlier that there wasmore play through middle, which gave us a lot more options and opened up the middle of the park. Stand-outs from yesterday were JCR and Flynn (who is excellent as a wingback-cum-midfielder.) Doyle put in a proper shift as well.

Interestingly, this wasn't nearly the best performance this season. There have been several games where we have played better and lost or drawn, MK Dons and Notts County at home spring to mind as better overall performances without the result. Those games I feel were lacking a striker, which we of course now have with Sparky, so hopefully we can start hitting some form and closing that gap. Including the Preston game yesterday, there is a run of 5 league games now where we play the current top 4. If the QPR game (which I went to, Blades were superb that day) and yesterday are anything to go by, we may have just started a vital run of form that could put us right back in the mix.

You are indeed correct where we have played better and not won.

This is what a number above have eluded to: We don't win therefore someone/something HAS to be to blame - cue negativity and unreasoned debate. I will get myself in trouble if I go on, so will hold my council.
