What's the chances we won't actually bring anyone in during the current window?
It looks like Gary Mackay-Steven is dead in the water. It looks unlikely we'll ever see Brayford back at the lane - at least this season. O'Grady was called back by Brighton and I believe has scored twice for them scince the recall - are they likely to let him go quickly?
The manager and boards unwillingness to go beyond a small "Shopping List" was a feature of our autumn.
To get back to a position where we can challenge for a top two finish will take some amazing performances in League One - none of which I've seen against league opposition so far this season. It's a puzzle that we are so much better in the cup, but some of our home league performances have been woefull.
I am not seeing a commitment from our board or management to secure definite promotion - and seem to be happy that we may qualify for a play-off position - which given our record would be just another disaster!

Well you old git, ( your words) nothing like writing it off whilst there is still over three weeks to go?
Cog will be signed if Brighton get a replacement?
The gms transfer is far from dead and I feel that we have other irons in the fire.
Agree that some of our league performances have been woeful but Keep the faith, things will happen in this window although the welcome return of wallace and davies will add power, strength, height and in davies case quality to our squad.

Always seems to be a worry this getting players in during a transfer window

What makes it worse for me is Clough keeps dropping our all these cliches about doing our business early, drawing up short lists, making enquiries, getting the bids in............... and then what?

I know Clough keeps his cards close to his chest but it all sounds a bit same owd same owd at the moment. O'Grady can't come back unless Brighton get someone in. Brayford is the same shit it was since the beginning of the season and then there's the what sounds like derogatory bids, which all seems so similar to the last window with the 3 bids on deadline day which all failed

Fingers crossed but personally it's difficult for me to put a positive spin on things

Someone has dropped the £1 coin and its rolled under a chair.

Will we find it?

Tbh I thought it was the Ched effect (funding his return) that had caused our pathetic performances in the transfer windows but now that has gone it's a bit worrying we haven't gone out all guns blazing to capture the best there is in his place / budget.

Lets give the club and Mr Clough a chance . Yes we are all waiting with baited breath , but we have to sign the right players . It is no good signing a player or players to appease the fans , and they turn out shit or no better than what we already have . Been down that road before . If there is no signings whatsoever especially when Mr Clough and especially the paying fans ,know what is required on the playing front , even to achieve a playoff place , then we have the right to have a legitimate go and moan.

Also no players in means we have people who are totally incompetent in dealing with transfers or the board has no ambition or cash.

The answer will be known at the end of January , and lets hope it is a very positive outcome , and not negative with a load of shit PR spin from the club on why nothing happened.

United's transfer windows...

It's commonly accepted that the JTW is the worst time to shop for anything of value. Our band of brothers will have to pay over the odds for anything that will improve the squad that significantly to overhaul the points deficit we currently have behind the divisional leaders and automatic places. Just not sure they will have the resolve or the bollocks - or the money to do it. The cup runs help but a prem club at home for R4 of the FAC would have been a bonus.

Agree, though, let's wait and see what Mal and the boys rustle up this month to see if the GCI is just a figment of an over active imagination
or a PR prank postulated and played by our potentates to placate potential pessimistic pugnacity per our perilous position pertaining to possible promotional prospects.

That reminds me - I must go for a pee

............................................. In the meantime the poor relations of South Yorkshire have all already made additions to their squads and in the Dingles case three in one day, ahhhh we can only dream of having a boardroom with a tiny bit of ambition.

They must be good someone else has signed them!
What a bloody negative set of supporters we have, last season looked like getting relegated, since then wembley, semi finals of league cup and consolidated our position in the most boring leave in the world, but God so much better than division 2!

Well according to Radio Pig the grunts have loaned the next Messi .............. Jose says he is a future world beater so it must be reyt

I personally think we've just about got a good enough squad for promotion, just haven't consistently played our best side yet. Admittedly wouldn't mind a striker and maybe some competition for Murphy/to allow Murphy central. GMS fits both those categories.

Bertie , just because players are signed by someone else , does not make them any good . JTW is a utter shit time to get the right calibre of players and do transfer business with loads of panic buying .. Majority of fans are not negative , they are just pragmatic and realist , that a COG or equal signed in the summer , with a little speculate to accumulate ethos from the board , we would be sitting top or second in this shit league , not worrying about getting into the playoffs. Last season is past history , the cup semi final is nice to have . The aim for this season with GCI was to get out shit football league division 3.

Errrr why did u like my original post?

Point 1 sarcasm
Point 2 realism for one is not the same for others
Pont 3 agree the point of this season is to get out of this division, but without Clough we would more than likely be in the division lower, be thankful for small mercies

Which bit do you disagree with more? Coady and Maguire would definitely have aided promotion more, I'd go as far as to say we'd be top three with Coady. As for the other bit those three are all at least decent in this league.
I dont think any of the three are anywhere near as good as tge three we lost

Bertie , i am very pro Mr Clough and the board . However leaving it until the JTW is not good business imo.

As i said in a earlier post lets see what happens , and hope that we do get the right calibre of players to get us out of this division.

Last season has gone . Look forward not backwards . Fans have the right to be negative . The positives will come when we see game changing players bought by game changing investment .

No sarcasm meant in point 1.

My point one was being sarcastic!

UTB, here is to a great second half of the season.

Best

Bertie
