Steve Evans said he enquired about Garner in the summer and they couldn't make the move happen. Garner would want decent money to lure him away from Preston it seems.
What division are Rovrum in?
I agree Garner would be just the type of player we need but not going to happen

The name of the game at this moment in time is resolving the defensive issues which Mt Clough appears to be on course , with no goals conceded in the last 3 games . ( Basham seems a completely different player ) . I think the problem is that goals win matches , but not letting them in gives you a better chance of not losing . We are creating a boat load of chances ,and i feel the signing of a good experienced CF , would alleviate a tremendous amount of pressure and nervousness amongst the players . It would also help in strengthening the mentality of the players and make a big statement to all rival teams , that the blades mean business. It not just about kicking a ball , the team with mental and psychological strength will gain promotion.

Bos, you're right, but yours is upwards of 100 posts that have suggested the same.

The truth is (and this has been said just as many times), which player, who's any good, will come to a division 1 side? Not exactly an intelligent career move you'd think? Garner is already with a promotion chasing side, so why on earth would he switch teams? Unless there's a miraculous stroke of luck, we look like we'll add to the squad from amongst players at this level at best, or with a decent loan player. Now, taking a leap into the future, if we're in the Championship next season everything changes. The players we'll be in a position to attract will be of better pedigree, thus what's at Clough's disposal will improve, which will increase our prospects no end. UTB

Itsinyerblood , agree with you . Taking Garner as a example , you are spot on .

Good career move -no

Would we afford his wages - no

It would have to be the right loan player . Mr Clough and Mr Clough brother will i am sure sort it .

That Jonathon Forte at Oldham looks a good bet, 10 goals in 12 appearances ;) Just goes to show you never can tell with any striker whether he's going to fit in and score goals for you.
Show's how average and strange this league can be, I don't rate Forte nor do I rate Eoin Doyle I would rather have Mcnulty over both of them but they are the top scorers in the league.
