I think for most (apart from the deluded) the penny has dropped that the so called investment is just an extension of the McCabe strategy to sell everything that is not nailed down, and not to procure any signings that are not free or loans. I have exchange some recent emails with Jim Phipps and it is quite apparent that he is just a spin doctor from the club. He never actually says anything but just comes out with the same versed spiel time and time again. I had hoped the Partnership would be a more positive influence on McCabe, but it does not appears to be the case.
It did get me thinking however that the big deal made at the time of the 'Game Changing Investment' and the more recent 125 year celebrations (funny how almost nothing was done much at 100 years?) was an attempt to draw some attention to the club, possibly with a view to selling it on if we do get to the Championship. No one would pay anything for a 3rd tier club, but they may take a punt if in the Championship. I think that is the real incentive for the link up with the Prince is to look at selling the club on in the near future, maybe to a non UK bidder?
It sure is not investment that is for sure, as it appears we have no money whatsoever or indeed any desire for making any actually signings which may cost a small amount of money, the club has set its stall out on that front. The chasing of Hull City and begging (yes they did beg and cut the asking price) when they pulled out for Mcquire seems the club is desperate for cash, or to take cash out!
So where does that leave us if we do not get to the Championship, which is looking extremely doubtful? We could be stuck in this situation for quite some time with McCabe not being be in a position to sell the club on. I think McCabe had hoped we would find our feet and manage somehow to stumble into the Championship after 4 consequence years. If not the next few years may be very troubling indeed, with the club resources / revenues ever decreasing and no buyer on the horizon for McCabe to exit.
Troubling times indeed.
