What a load of bollocks latest in a catalyst of bollocks dropped by Clough

Did he meet McCarthy off the 12oclock train from London at Chesterfield
Bet the kids gutted at being left out

I'm very disappointed in Clough's decision to drop him if he wasn't injured. I thought he was excellent against Gillingham. He has shown improvement since joining us which few of our summer signings have.

Best I've seen him against Gillingham. But I can understand Clough looking to rest an 18 year old after 10 or so games.
Its easy to lob blame at Clough in the wake of defeat but I felt all along McGahey would be the one to miss out for McCarthy for the very reason Clough states.

is it just me?

I am getting a little fed up with this "resting malarkey" - as posted earlier, NC has said Higdon won't be "fully" ready until Xmas - FFS what does that mean? Who makes this assumptions and decisions?

"Oh dear - not quite enough Vitamin A,B,C or D to last 90 minutes - sorry gaffer, so and so can't paly this weak - can't go against H&S rules".

It is quite ridiculous with the advances we have had in dietary advice, fitness regimes and exercise that an 18 year old lad needs "resting" a whole week after playing his last game and just ten league games into the season.

Sad times.

I am getting a little pissed off with Clough changing things as well. I think he haid that he saw the opportunity to rest McGahey with the arrival of McCarthy but in my eyes it can't be doing the lads confidence and morale any good to be one of our stand out players and then get left out for the next game. He's done this several times this season but it's been smoke screened due to the number of injuries we have had. When a player has a good game then he has earned his shirt for the next match that is how it works unless they are a complete and utter arse and lazy git off the pitch. In fairness to McCarthy I don't think he had a terrible game but still.

Sad times.[/QUOTE,
easiest option, young lad, Nigel making all the right decisions for his future development, blah blah blah. Cowardly decision. IMO of course.

It was ridiculous playing mcCarthy without the chance for the defence to train together if Mcgahey was fit

He was contracted to start for us, he even said he's here to play the 6 league games this month, so one of Collins or Mcgahey will be dropped each week for him. It just happened to be Mcgahey who got the break away from the team, he will be back mid week but likely dropped again for McCarthy at the weekend.

Higdon won't be fully fit until Christmas? I can't believe NC has said that, but if he did that raises two obvious questions.

1, How on earth has a professional footballer allowed himself to become so totally unfit during the summer break?

2. Did we buy him out of a catalogue ? Surely someone met him before they signed him and could see the fat bastard wasn't fit?

It's like going to buy a car at a a car and being told 'There's no gearbox, It's on order but it won't be here before Christmas' and saying 'That's fine, I'll have it, we really need a car'

As I pointed out in another thread, dropping/resting mcgahey or Collins for that matter, just when they seem to be getting a better understanding together seems a ludicrous decision, and if for contractual reasons McCarthy has to start surely Collins would be the obvious choice to rest as he's older and probably has little to learn from McCarthy where as mcgahey could learn from a different style of defender, thus improving him quicker, also all the best teams ever have had a more or less constant back four, a solid foundation to build the rest of the squad upon, by my reckoning and please correct me if I'm wrong but we have had at least 2 different left backs, 2 different right backs, and 4 or 5 different center backs, all in just 10 games, how on gods green earth are the back four ever going to get any sort of understanding if the guy playing next to you is different every other game?

Didn't realise you were an athlete working as professional sportsman.
Also what's the money got to do with it?
Players are assessed, when their bodies are physically tired injuries are considerably more prone. Additionally young players who play through these zones are also significantly more likely to have issues in their longer term development again with injuries.
But I'm sure the comparison with your fitness regime, lifestyle and job role still stands.

Then that is crap negotiations/timing. Could have started the loan on Monday and either played him in the JPT as a warm up ior allowed him 5 days to get an understanding with the rest of the back four

Yawn

Is it a three game ban for Higdon?

If so pack him off to the gym at Wincobank and let the boxers sort him out, we'd get back a much fitter player.

Don't suppose he's run 12 miles before breakfast this morning to get fit, thought not.

Mcgahey over McCarthy anyday, a premiership player shouldn't make a schoolboy error like that, mcgahey needs a bit more strength and Arial ability and he could become a perfect Maguire replacement.

So if he's contracted to play the 6 games, does that mean he's untouchable if he keeps dropping bollocks like Saturday? that'll be good for team morale if everyone else apparently has to "earn" a shirt.

All it seems to me is we're being used to get the bloke fit for palace, might be different if he's here for 3 months but only for 1 and has to play every game, what!?

Surely our needs take precedent over Palace's who I could give less of a fuck about. Please Warnock feel free to not do us any "favours" again.

Not convinced this is one of NC's better decisions, I see no upside for us. We potentially demoralise our players then he fucks off in a month and we're back to where we were but with demoralised/demotivated players. Sounds like a SUFC plan to me.

I get the feeling most of the posters on here work for weight watchers, if it's not Higdon it's Baxters figure your watching, Fatty Foulkes would have never got a game with you lot......:)
