By the time we've played Watford we'll have had a run of 7 games playing teams currently in 10th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th. 1 team above 15th

Then it's a run against 6th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 22nd, 5th, 1st. 1 team below 13th

By Boxing Day, we'll know what this team is

A slightly above typical championship side without parachute payments is my guess.

Still out for me. It's a shame Challinor has gone to the pigs. We always leave it too late to get a good manager.
Challinor has a good record. But so did Alexander before he went to Preston. Every manager will fail at some point, often when they inherit a shit team.

I will say this about Wilder. The football may be poor and the team selection and tactics may appear baffling at times, but we aren't getting relegated with him in charge. If we do make a change it's essential that the new manager is given a full summer to build a new team.

I'm not sure that summer is the best time to change manager. Players won't know if the new manager will play them and are likely to leave. New players might be wary of signing. One example is a striker who is scoring in the Premier League. I think we were in for him in the summer of 25 but he didn't want to sign for Selles.
Get your point though

Just have to hope we get to January and see what we do in the transfer window as we need a lot better up front. Need a decent attacking player

We definitely need more options wide, we’ve only got Donovan, Chong and BBD. I think we can all agree that BBD should not be playing wide in our current system.

I dread to think who would end up playing if Donovan and/or Chong got injured.

No team with Tanganga, Kitching, Burrows, Seriki, Cooper, Peck, Kalvin Phillips and Bamford should be talking about survival or acting like 8th is some impossible achievement.

Fair play to Wilder, it finally looks like he's turned a corner. I genuinely think if that Wrexham game had been a shocker he could have been on his way. He looked under some serious pressure in that pre-match presser.

But there's no need to get so high or so low. He doesn't need to be constantly having a go at the fans either. The fans have every right to point out that the majority of this season has been awful.

95% of our fanbase, myself included, love Wilder, but when he starts with the whole "I made this club" stuff and acting like nobody can criticise him, it's not for me.

I'm glad things are looking better and 4 points from the next 2 games could put us in a really good position.

I've said all along this squad is more than good enough to be one of the best sides outside the top 3 or 4. There's some serious quality in this team and we should be looking up, not worrying about survival.

Just wish Wilder would cut out the negativity sometimes. Nobody is against him, we all want him to do well, but that doesn't mean fans can't call out poor performances when we've been watching them most of the season.

I agree with a lot of this, apart from the top 3-4 comment. I really don’t think this squad is dynamic enough to climb that high… but hopefully I’m wrong.

Wilder is definitely feeling the pressure and the unrest and, so far, I don’t think this has been a bad thing. In my opinion, it’s humbled him a little and perhaps prompted him to take a different tact.

It’s good to feel like we may be turning a corner. The performances have certainly been much better, no doubt as a result of a more attacking and positive approach to our set up. Credit to Wilder and the team for this.

What I don’t understand is fans who are against and/or react badly to hearing/reading criticism of the performance, team or the manager. It’s a football forum, and I would imagine most of us believe there is still much to improve on.

That being said, this anti-Wilder/Wilder fanboy rhetoric is pathetic and becoming boring and divisive. In the medium-longer term, I look forward to change in direction from the club but surely, in the short term we all want him to do well?!

Another stay of execution.

A slightly better performance in patches.

Still completely unorganised in defence.

Still playing a CM at RB, having other RB who he brought in on big wages.

It’s madness, and by targeting people of such an opinion you’re actually making the situation worse.

The dire situation where we sit 4 points off second place?

Remember that Preston side was managed by Paul Heckingbottom and Stuart McCall for two years - win ratio 27% .
A manager who most on here never had a bad word for, and has even been suggested as a replacement for Wilder. - win ratio - 41% (current spell)
Wilders win ratio in his first spell was 47%

I'll refrain from posting Selles win ratio.

Yet the Wilder supporters are called a cult.

Lets swop with Preston because some have decided that wilder will never be good enough.

Awaits reply describing excitement levels, to to repost Selles win ratio, with vertical attacking front foot football.

Indeed Choudhury has moved up from the alleged 50K/week to 62.500K according to someone on here. 🤣 🤣

It must be true it's on social media.

Presumably from this website that states he was on 36K/week in 24/25 and was contracted to Leicester City.

The same website shows that Leicester were in League one that year, made up clickbait or actual facts. I suspect some don't care if it supports their narrative.

Because some people look beyond the results, especially when those results are against the worst teams in the league and we still haven’t looked convincing in most of them.

What happens at the end of the season when the loans go back, the contracts expire and our best players are a year closer to their contracts running down? Do you really trust the person that’s brought in the likes of Shackleton, Campbell, Choudhary, Diaz etc… to rebuild this squad for the 4th year in a row?

We’re a club things happen too, constantly reacting to easily foreseeable events and always on the back foot, bemoaning our luck. Nothing is ever challenged to stress tested because getting on the wrong side of King Cwissy is the quickest way to find yourself out of a job.

I want us to behave like a modern football club and not be dependant on the wavering abilities of a single person, a person that has a chequered history of accepting responsibility for all the things they’ve got wrong. For this to happen wilder and his ilk need to move on.

Because some people look beyond the results

Some spend far too long looking at the Champions league and the top 5 in the PL, IMO.
Dreams are great but unfortunately most of us have to live in some form of reality.

Could it be better - yes.

Could it be a lot worse - yes.

How are the dreams of Sunderland and Nottingham Forest going.
Both have considerably wealthier owners than us and threw £150 million into the transfer pot on promotion.
If they both end up relegated I wonder their finances might look like with it's attendant reflection on playing performances.

I’m back in favour of him staying now. Lose a few and I’ll be back in favour of him going.

Life of a fickle fan

That said all I want is the mighty Blades to be up there going for promotion like I presume we all do.

Still out for me. It's a shame Challinor has gone to the pigs. We always leave it too late to get a good manager.

Though many said the same about Michael Skubala last season and neither the team he left or the team he joined are pulling up any trees this season.

Would we be happier in the position of Bristol City or Lincoln City?

We’ve shown a little bit of promise recently although against some pretty shit teams but its something. 1 half of football against wrexham and similarly for Preston.

It’s taken him a fucking age to get to a low baseline. Having said that there is at least a bit of hope in me now that Wilder is doing something, finally. I’ve seen some patterns of play and football which is encouraging.

Long-term for me he’s still not the answer. And the clubs structure is similarly to blame.

This is totally fine and how almost every football club treats its manager. It’s not out of order to believe that another manager could be doing a better job right now because Wilder was good 7 years ago.

If we get another manager in and he’s bobbins then we sack him and get another. Like every other football club does.
