Bramall Lane roof

The stand has been mostly empty for years, even when it was open. we've had some good away followings this year which have masked how much the attendance has dropped off from 2024.
It hasn’t been “mostly empty” since 2024. It hasn’t been full but it has had a significant number up there for many matches.

Tingo construction services at your disposal. All aspects covered from surveys to design and build, all to the highest Nigerian safety standards.
Realise your dream now! with Tingo construction.
I worked with a Nigerian company years ago and their company slogan was ‘we specialise in everything’ .. well I thought it was funny.

I don’t get what the drama is over this. Bettis has clearly stated the hold up isn’t because we can’t afford to repair it but because of the amount of work needed.

The issue was highlighted because it was flagged up during routine safety checks. We immediately set in processes to sort it, only to find the problem was bigger than first thought.

It’s not like down the road where issues were ignored and they relied on dodgy decisions by the safety advisory board, kicking the can down the road for years.

The Bramall Lane roof could be a metaphor for the city of Sheffield itself. Has great difficulty starting projects, takes far too long on said projects and ultimately struggles to complete projects…Both in organisation and financing
Perhaps we could add a bike lane on there as well

Because it's an opportunity to kick the club / Bettis , without any actual facts to back it up.

And if that's even remotely correct, then we've at least done the right thing, unlike them. Who tried to fix it with cable ties
For the Lincoln game, we were sat in the Corner Stand, last seats before the closed main part, but we were in line with the penalty area, so well along the original BLUT stand and couldn’t help wondering why we were safe but anybody further in might not be.

Interesting on attendances. Obviously our crowds will also depend on the away following too in terms of fluctuation.
And of course season tickets are always counted.

But so far this season our average is 26,668. Which by our standards in the past 8-9 years is on the lower side of our averages.
It could if we end up doing better than we think go up a bit or if we do worse go down a bit too.

All the while SWFC are getting 30k plus every week. Which is remarkable in the 3rd tier. (Sort of).

And whilst they are giving it large about how we aren't "well supported". Our current average as it stands would only be bettered by them in twice in the past 28 years.
One of those was when they finished 4th in the championship when Chansiri was considered the saviour.
And the other time was 3 seasons ago when Rohl eventually came in and they were on a journey with him.
Both of which were not much higher by much at all.

It often gets forgotten that whilst "you've had 26 years" to be better than us. As often quoted by owls. They forget that for 5 seasons they were a league above us too...

They haven't averaged more than us since 16/17, when we were in League One and they were in the Championship.

I've often seen them saying that they average more than us when we're in the same league, but that's clearly not true: the last 4 seasons we've been in the same league (25/26, 24/25, 17/18 and 18/19) we've averaged more than them.

I expect this season to be a bit of an outlier for them, and if they don't get promoted then crowds will dip back down to their usual 23/24k that they tend to get outside of exceptional circumstances.

Speaking of the BL end. Only started watching blades in 1999. So the BL end has always been the away end. However if you watch old videos, blades were in that end. Where did away fans stand back in the day and when did it move to the "away end"

In general, strict segregation didnt start until the late 1970s/early 1980s

Having listened to the weather forecast for this weekend I wonder the roof is in danger of being ripped off?

interesting point about the pigs attendances firstly theyve 'got their club back ' as they keep telling us its their potd figures that are better than ours just now more or less same numbers in season tickets as us but their getting 6/7k potd fans opposed to our 3k or so thats why were getting less than them

IMG_8943.webpCan we at least in the meantime fix the S in the seating lettering if all of us on the Kop are going to be staring straight at it for the rest of the season? It’s bugged me since they did it, and for whatever reason wasn’t sorted when they added the black seats. Looks more like a registration plate with BLADE5 on it than BLADES. The bottom 7 rows of the S need shifting one seat to the left. Gerrit sorted.
And replace one white seat near the middle on the left with a red one.

The piggies can make as much noise as they want about attendances, but last season some of their 'actual' attendances (as in people in the ground) were as low as 7.5k? However, the figures were skewed by season ticket holders who didn't attend! (still count apparently). If they actually break 30k for the season it will be the first time since 1967/68 season, just tell them that as they really don't like it. Us Blades of course don't worry so much about the gate......................just ask Brentford, Bournemouth etc what does it really mean??? Income generated by gate receipts particularly in the Prem is almost irrelevant. The other talking point is that West Ham have over 50k season ticketholders and are getting gates of 60k plus, now that is massive!

Corner was a fill in and a different structure to the older BLUT. My guess is that, from what Bettis has said, is that the roof section will have to be extended from the corner all along the BLUT for continuity and compliance with current building regs. Also a chance to improve facilities up there. His words.

There was a season in the early 1990's when they finished 2nd (I think) to Man Utd.
They had Waddle, Sheridan, Hirst and it seems crazy that they couldn't achieve a 30k average attendance.

3rd I think.
Football attendances werent as high back then in fairness.

But for me it is just seeing what they generally tend to do. They have had a few good seasons on the champ. And the attendances werent as high as they say they would be.

Right now they are as "they have their club back". But in a way it's all the more perplexing.

3rd behind champions Leeds and Man U who were runners up in 1991/92 season. Waddle joined them in Summer 1992

Seven points behind Leeds at the seasons end. Lost twice to United and were on the wrong end of both the biggest home win n AND away win. Still, the following season it got them past some European postmen, teachers and plumbers and into one of the greatest European Cup runs rivalling the achievements of Real Madrid, AC Milan and Liverpool.

Sit on me knee Grandson and listen to me……

A pig I know has bought a season ticket for the first time since the mid 1990's. I suspect that's happened a lot. The pigs have the biggest creepy-crawly fanbase I know of. They all come crawling out of the woodwork and from under stones when it looks like there might be a bit of success to piggyback, but they soon go scuttling back when the light goes on and their true worth is revealed.
