People are saying that a new manager could not get a different tune out if the same players should think back to Howard Kendall who turned round our style of play within a few weeks.
He replaced the legend that was Dave Bassett who had gone stale after so long doing the same things with the same players in very much the same way that Wilder is, but Kendall changed things v quickly
It can be done just needs the right man
While it's a fact that Kendall did turn our fortunes round that season, it's not true that he did it with the same players. Bassett has said it was clear he wasn't Mike McDonald's man and when Kendall was appointed, he was backed and we broke our transfer record by signing Don Hutchison along with several other players.

Whilst he went on to sign better players the players he inherited started to play much better and winning football within a matter of weeks

Just realised that he drew his first five matches one if which was against Arsenal in the cup, but having attended his initial matches I remember how quickly the players took to playing football as opposed to knocking it down the channels and running after it.
