Playing better than what though? Because we've just played 2 of the weakest teams in the league, and only truly looked the de facto better side in one half of football across those 2 fixtures.

When the players and staff look back at tonight, what they take from it absolutely should not be "we were unlucky lads - a screamer from range and a shite ref".

We should be recognising the fact that we wasted at least one golden opportunity at 0-0 to take the lead.

We should be recognising that Peck failed to send the ball more than 20 yards with a clearance, and then nobody closed their lad down, allowing him a free hit from range. If we do our defensive job properly, he doesn't even shoot in that position.

We should be recognising that we twice allowed opposing players to be utterly unmarked in our own box (one being in the 6 yard area to boot), allowing them almost guaranteed goals from both chances as a result.

We should be recognising that for whatever combination of reasons (physical and/or mental), Campbell cannot currently be trusted to perform to the standards of a professional footballer. Bringing him on helped to contribute to us losing the game.

I could go on to be honest, but what's the point?
It was a screamer from range and a shit ref though. No?

On a more serious note, why not try a forward looking younger manager who is willing to give young players a chance? I honestly don't we would have got promoted last time if Wilder had been in charge. He does not seem to be willing to trust young players. Maybe it's because they don't get the culture of the club.

Maybe Boy George? He'd get the culture of the club.

We are in the perfect storm. Owners who fuck about not having a clue and try to get out of commitments. A manager and coaching staff, who appear to not recognise or are unable to fix glaring problems in organisation. A manager and recruitment team who buy limited players, old players as squad fillers, and who are slow to introduce young players.

The squad is unbalanced and likely to get worse at the end of the season. Choudhary at full back wasn't an accident waiting to happen. It was happening most games up to now.

Phillips, Campbell, unfit. Bamford effective but too old to play lots of games. Ayew to old and too slow. Cannon effective only when we play to his strengths which we don't.

A centrehalf Tanganga who can't organise and loses composure conpletely after we concede. McGuinness who Wilder said was not in his plans.

Rothwell who avoids getting on the ball. Chong who is another squad filler and is currently in favour and keeping out Donovan, who is real talent.

Changing the manager isn't going to change much this season. But if we organised what we have we could stop the rot.

Reasons to be Cheerful pt4: You forgot potential points deduction

I'm seriously thinking of quitting social media too.
It's like a doom spiral, even when we win it's not good enough for the doomsters.

You mean out of the vicious cirlcle of " I've heard" crap. Yeah I agree.
more the vicious circle. of being a big budget Peterborough. always going back to wilder or hecky they managed us for the vast majority of over 10 years

if he does go. which is possible lose the next 2 & pressures on. we need a clean break

Out of interest, if his tenure does end, who would you like to replace him?

If current form continues I suspect that both Nicky Hayen at Burnley and Phillipe Clement at Norwich will be available at Christmas.
Both forward thinking head coaches (manager) and foreign with a half reasonable European CV, just the ticket for the disgruntled Blades fans.

Ok clean break , sack him should we lose to Bristol the Derby. Then what?

We were actually decent early on, particularly on the right side. Moving the ball forwards for a change and whipping crosses into the box - more of that please. Desperately unlucky to lose.

Under 70% pass accuracy yet again too, how can professional footballers be so terrible at the absolute basics
Think long balls play a part in that. Since we like to go route one these days (hoof, long ball tactics).

What annoys me is, we was under crash for 10 mins around the 80th min mark.. lot if time edge of our box.. we managed to break and commit players forward, I stead of holding on to the ball for 5 mins and taking the sting out of it and relieving some pressure we didnt do that.

Kitching or McGuinness (think it was Kitching) got the ball and just tried launching it forward to try and do a norwood style ping... ended up judt booting it straight to their keeper who played it out quickly and we got caught up... they went down and scored soon after.

We supposed to have brought in experienced players. And players thay can pass the ball and keep possession. Why didnt we we try and pass it around a bit to have a breather... where was the logic in judt booting it straight back to them? We had 10 men going into last 5 mins of the game under cosh for large spells. A bit of common sense sfter clawing our way bsck to a hard earned point. Stupidity at its finest.

I’d say lucky to equalise
even in the 15 minute period when we played fairly well in the first half the standard of the final ball was terrible
We got pegged back for long periods and hoofed it to no one and that was at 11v11

i think he would go around Preston/Charlton if things were to go bad.

but Wilder at Bramall Lane is reminds me a alot Of F1 & how everyone expected red bull to collapse after Adrian Newey left. because like Newey at Red Bull, he’s not just doing a job; he is the blueprint. When someone defines the entire tactical DNA of an era, its easy to get terrified of what happens the day they aren’t in the building anymore.

but they also mask deep systemic gaps behind the scenes. When you look at life after them, the whole structure feels like it's built around one man rather than a sustainable, modern model

With 10 men?
Yes.

We were one down before the sending you’ll recall. Got back in it because Pompy are basically shit then threw at the end.

People may argue we were ‘unlucky’, but then poor teams tend to be.

This season is starting to get a whiff of 2010/11 and Mickey Adams taking us down.

I hope he can turn it round.

UTB.
