Hope this isn't the kiss of death but I'm a lot happier today. We've just gone head to head with what is essentially a PL team and given a good account of ourselves. On another day we'd get a least a draw. Play with that commitment and we'll win half our games and finish in the top 6 or 8. Well done to all the players and Wilder and the staff for getting them up for it. Lots of work still needs to be done but there could be a decent team in there.

Apologies for the new thread for basically a match comment but it is important to highlight the positives from today.

I'll get in there before all the moaners..
"...Its a low bar"

But yeah, I liked what we put on show. We already know our limitations because of the players we have, there's always going to be a ceiling for squads like this, but I think today we sawabout 85%-90% of what we are capable of. We also played a style that suits the players at our disposal. People are complaining that we were slow and ponderous, but other than one loan exception, who in the squad isn't? We were brilliant in the centre of the park and solid at the back. Again, its hard to demand much more from these players.

I can't believe the reaction of most of you. I must have watched a different match to everyone else. Defensively we were pretty good but didn't get close to scoring.

No style of play, no progression on or off the pitch.

100's of millions wasted and this is where we are at.

I can't wait for the end of this era of the club. We are in desperate need of a shift of culture and mindset from 99% of people related to the club.

Glad a few are seeing the positives, amazed that some still think we should be competing for the top 2 with a loss of £30/40 million income this season..

Shout out for Ayew, who slotted in seamlessly and provided a sublime cross.
Thought Ayew did well when he came on but had the ball taken off him a bit too easily a couple of times.

Last 20 mins, but we go defensive
We ran out of steam, which is not surprising given the amount of work we had put in.

Peck and Arblaster in particular were well off the pace I'm the last 20 minutes meaning that all we had was a lump it out defence and see it come back.

We need to be able to play forward out of defence but overall I would say more reasons to be cheerful than not

We were second best against a very good team but there were signs that we're moving in the right direction.

Yes, strangely more satisfied (not happy) than the other games. Just a feeling that we could have done with Donovan's pace for the last ten minutes.
You have to wonder if McCallum and / or Choudhury could’ve made it through the 90, whether we’d have seen Donovan

And still lose!
We lost because we went defensive - ball in their half and our back 4 lined up on our 18 yard line. We just invited wave after wave and the inevitable happened. We were on top until he took Hamza off Doherty is way too slow. Ayew looked good but was knackered very quickly. McCallum must be shagging the refs wife!!
