So, another win. Probably our most efficient score ever! When we went 2-1 up we had had 2 shots – Cannon xg 0.13, Peck xg 0.05 and so a team xg of 0.18 and we were 2-1 up! At the end of the game team xg had soared to 0.47 – so we may be lacking in creativity, but clinical is an understatement!

Turning to my graphs, remember that based on the last decade, I am taking a 92 points target for Automatics, a 70 points target for 8th (playoffs) and an 81 points target for 4th (playoff semis). I’m only showing the first 10 matches on the graphs at the moment, so that the difference between the lines is visible.

Graph 1 plots our progress against those promotion targets, with my forecast for each match that will deliver those targets. After six games, for the first time we have sneaked between my 2 playoffs lines. So we’re on a schedule for 6th or 7th at the moment. Still only 3 points behind target for a Top 2 finish!

Graph 2 is the comparison with our last 2 seasons – and with 9 points we are now 9 points ahead of last season – as we had no points from our first 6 games (!) We are 5 points behind Wilder’s 92 point season in 24/25, but we were on a strong run then over the next few games.

I usually wait for the Wednesday matches to post the League Table, but I wanted to post one while we were still in the Top 10!

It's perhaps telling that 5 of our 6 games have been against teams currently 14th and below – but the point at Swansea looks increasingly good.

So, Wolves on Sunday. For some strange reason the Wolves game with Portsmouth was postponed tonight – something to do with Portsmouth playing at Everton, but then not playing at Everton because Liverpool had a Champions League game, but too late to move the Wolves game back to tonight!! Means Wolves have had a full week’s rest before our game though. Anything out of that game will be a bonus.

There was shot entitlement on the BBC lancs comms and also Roy’s View from.

“But, but we had 18 shots” cried the Rovers fans…

Yes but 5 shots into the stands don’t equal a goal.

We played a very smart game without the ball and didn’t waste it so much when we had possession

From what I can make out from the stats:-

Blackburn had:-
19 Shots
9 Off Target
6 Blocked
3 Saved
1 Goal

Blades had:-
7 Shots
1 Off Target
3 Blocked
1 Saved
2 Goals

I never thought I’d see Blades stats like that this season. 1 off Target from 7 is amazing - and 2 goals from an xg of 0.47 is either crap keeping or absolutely clinical finishing (which it was).

Was that really us?!
