Watching andorra v wales. Got me thinking, what a load of toss that pitch is,very bobbly and too much crumble (little black bits),i really hope we will get a much better one than that. wembley quality would suit . our pitch was an embarrassment for alot of last season. Could we use having a 3G pitch to our advantage ? We will be used to it after a couple of games, most other teams still have grass, i think if we go up this season then alot of teams will struggle against us next season. worth a thought. UTB

Whenever i come back from 5-aside and take my shoes off, my bedroom looks like it's got mouse shit all over the floor. :)

We aren't having a 3G
That's old hat
It's summat else more advanced that is a hybrid of woven artificial and grass - no black bits in it

I'd imagine we'll be going for the Grassmaster, which just has artificial fibres woven with real grass, rather than being a rubber crumb filled alternative :)

That's the chicken. About £800k worth as I understand it.

btw - that's where the cup run money is going on - not into the tranny kitty.

At the end of last season it was quite heavily publicised that we'd be getting this new 3G (or whatever it is) pitch over the summer for this season. Like those big hitters we were going to sign in the last transfer window, I don't think it will happen any time soon.

It's due next summer. I see no reason to doubt that.

If I remember rightly it was always going to be next season the new pitch would be ready for, not this.

Theyve already booked the firm to do it after this season ends as they can only do two pitches over the summer break

Was just looking on the company's webpage which the Telegraph says has got the contract - http://www.dessosports.com/hybrid-grass. Interesting site.

Cost according to April's Telegraph is £850k.- Says it will be installed ahead of 2015-16 season.

Hope my dad doesn't want this done on his lawn cos he has been going on about it needing renewing - I'd have to think about which arm and which leg I don't need :D

Of course having a perfect playing surface won't necessarily compensate if the players playing on it are crap so I hope we don't end up doing what the pigs did when they were on the semi-final/world cup gravy train nigh on 50 years ago - spent money on the ground and forgot about the team.

I seem to remember, though it might just be rumours spread around at the time (or an over-active imagination on my part), didn't we sell the pigs the cricket pitch when it was dug up? Maybe we should sell them the current playing surface as it would suit their "style" :).

Apparently owners of sections of Luton's plastic pitch from the eighties have regular reunions so maybe we could buy that for a song and use some of the brass left over on a player or two :p.

Still its got to be better than this

So, a cynical dig at the club based on an entirely false premise. Keep the head down, don't acknowledge the embarrassing error, hope no-one notices, the misdirected mud sticks and move on to the next one.

It's the Bladesfans' Way.

I heard Cloughy on Radio Sheff towards the end of last season talking about the new 3G pitch being laid over the summer and that it would cost about £800k. It stuck in my mind at the time for the obvious reason, if they're shelling out that much for a pitch I hope there's plenty in the kitty for transfers (as it turned out there was next to nowt in the kitty for either). I even came away from the Dundee friendly thinking well where's the new pitch they're supposed to be putting in!

I suppose it's the Bladesway, claim something positive is going to happen, go quiet about it when it doesn't then change the goal posts!

I think you heard wrong, the pitch was always going to be next summer as the company who were doing it couldn't fit us in.It is all paid for and will be here next year. And apparently the price had nothing to do with the transfer kitty but only time will tell with that one,if or when we reach the Championship.

No, it seems the "Bladesway" is to make something up and then use it to beat the club with.

Plenty have said that the plan was for next season but I guess we could ALL be wrong and you couldn't have misheard.
