Think it probably is this. Makes a lot of sense with the Wilder connection, did well his first season at Boro. More of a Striker than a winger, which I don't love as we have that with One. It may also signal going with 2 up top more often.

If a contract just ends, it's usually referred to as the player being "released". Terminations are when a contract still has time to run.

CW saying this players contract was terminated suggests to me that their deal wasn't due to expire until summer 2027 at the earliest.

So someone who's on the verge of having their contract terminated then maybe?

I don’t think you can register a player unless they were already a free agent when the window closed.
