I’m worried like most Blades are, but Wilder’s latest comments made me think.

He’s saying he’ll work with what he’s got and get the best out of them, rightly so.

But what happens if he gets the likes of Campbell, Peck etc firing again and their value shoots up?

Come January, all it takes is a decent offer and I fear these owners will simply sell.

That’s my biggest concern. Wilder could end up increasing the value of the squad, only for the owners to cash in.

They look financially driven rather than football driven, and I worry the priority is recovering their money rather than building Sheffield United.

Jeez man we've only just got through August
Yeah and need to look at the reality
I said asset stripping 2 weeks ago i had negative comments
Now look at us!!! Are you one of them that lives day by day and never plan for the future?

Please don't worry. If players start firing again it means Wilder is doing a good job. The team will do better and it will be beneficial for all. Part of that is players being coveted. Its how it works.

Have we been asset stripping? Pretty sure we’ve taken good money for three players.

I agree that we want to keep our best players and the recruitment has been loan heavy, which is worrying as always, but that seems to be the way we do business with parachute payments or not

On the January point, if we have players performing and at their peak we should be looking at contracts… Campbell has extended his contract.

And if we’re performing and up the top end of the table, we shouldn’t be selling as easily

If the owners want to sell or bring in new investment then they will have to keep us in the championship or they will lose even more money. Therefore what happens in January will depend on where we are in the League. If we are mid table or higher then they may indeed authorise sales. If we are around the relegation zone, where most supporters feel we will be then I think it less likely.

If by some miracle, we get everyone firing and are in the top half of the table, I actually don’t think the board would sanction sales, despite what has happened in this window.

But let’s have a few months off transfers and get Christmas out of the way 😂

The owner(s) will be closely monitering how we (and Wilder) are performing between now through till Christmas and if we are in and around the top 8 at that point and have a sniff of a chance to get PL dosh will very likely roll the dice to get us more quality/strength to make that happen.

Got good money for O’Hare ✅
Brooks was cheap imo ❌
Gus was ok
But to replace them with a loan (not ours) and let’s be fair O’hare hasn’t been replaced nore has Gus in reality too

My biggest concern and worry is selling cooper and replacing with davies, then bringing in a free agent 40 odd year old 2nd choice that hasnt played in years.
Don’t panic we have a really good young keeper coming through. An old second choice will not be needed in your scenario.

Reminds me of a management quote.

What if we train them up and we leave?
Well, what if we don’t and they stay?

Players playing well is never a bad thing.
You’re missing a fundamental point here. What do you do when they leaves? You recruit more and train them back up

We haven’t recruited, reinvested (even a percentage) and replaced

end of january is 5 months away,, our status could be totally alien to how it looks now

if weve paid off the prince or being charged for bookkeeping anomolies
no point worrying about wildly differing scenarios

We still might sign a free agent yet like last season. However currently we will be near the bottom this season unless yet again we perform a miracle and wilder gets us challenging the top half. Maybe it’s a chance to gamble on including youth in the team
