This season's strategy was clear since we sold Brooks: cash in on all saleable assets, replace with over-the-hill, injury-prone journeymen and hope that - by some miracle - we scrape 8th. Only the most hardened clapper will be expecting us to reinvest the funds.

And if we did scrape eighth, what was the plan for 27/28, regardless of what happened after we finished eighth?

From the Star. Callum's explanation why he went to Wrexham.

"The club's so big and well known, and I just really wanted to come here. I'm so excited to get started,” O’Hare said. “I want to help the club go in the right direction and hopefully get what everyone wants – promotion to the Premier League.”

Wrexham are so big and well-known?
Really?

Promotion to the EPL with Wrexham?
Really?

Money talks I guess, Callum.
Like them or not they are certainly a better run club than us with a plan, structure and strategy, with owners that communicate and don't mind mixing with their supporters. Light years better than the waste of space Yanks we've got.

I always thought we'd need to lose 3 to plug the Financial gap that owners cant plug (not that ours would/could), but i thought it would be Peck or Burrows.

If no decent or any bid at all came in for either of them two, but a decent one came in for O'Hare, i guess it had to be accepted.

I liked O'Hares energy and never give up attitude.

It's a thank you from me.

I love the guy, but he's a number 10 whose best attribute is his workrate, he's 28 and he wanted to go. Getting £7m for him isn't disastrous business.

But to sell him so late in the window, when you're unlikely to get a replacement is daft. To do that when you've already sold Hamer and Brooks is bonkers.

He ran around a lot and gave everything but I'm not sure he scores the winner tonight that Donovan did, who, on that showing, could have a much higher ceiling than Callum O'Hare.

Tbh, Donovan is the replacement for O’Hare. Didn’t see it until tonight. Has potential to be better for sure, lets see now if he stay in form and also go relatively injury free. Looks like we are in for a treat with Donovan.

Here’s hoping. Just unfortunate he’s not ours to keep and benefit from his obvious talent.

Gutted Callum’s gone but now he insults our intelligence by saying he “just wanted to come to a big club”

Nowt to do with money. Honest.

He is the replacement for Brooks. O'Hare won't be replaced and the board wants hanging for it.

i have never been a massive fan of coh if im honest but understand why many blades fans are great energy and commitment just dont think he fits wilders preferred tactics
What makes you say that?

Just curious as he’s probably the only remaining reason that we played 4-2-3-1 as he’s not really an 8 but he’s a 10.

He’s busy and good off the ball and did score a few goals now and again though I always felt he should have got more.

He did have that annoying habit of seemingly needing ages to get the ball under control and he was often shoved off the ball far too easily.

I suppose that one gets dropped now.

It will be interesting to see what Wilder concludes. 4-4-2 got a result and it does allow him time to see if he can get a similar tune out of Cannon that Stoke did. He seems better in a 2.

4-3-3 would perhaps give more control in midfield though the amount we turn the ball over unnecessarily might negate any such move. But then youre one up top.

5-3-2 gives you both of those; three in the middle and two up top but it does leave you pondering what to do on the right. I don’t see Choudhury bombing down the right though he did make the odd overlap. It also compromises Donovan’s spot and that is unthinkable after last night.

Certainly 4-2-3-1 went when Callum did in my view.

For me he will be best remembered for being a pressing 10 rather than a creative 10. Worked hard, but should have really been terrorising defenders and scoring a lot more goals than he did. Sometimes showed flashes of creativity with some nice slick passes, but not often enough.

Also, his pace was nonexistent after 3-5 yards and often got bullied off the ball and went looking for a foul.

I’m more annoyed about the timing of the transfer rather than him actually leaving. We got to a point where you’re thinking OK he’s not the greatest, but we can’t afford to lose another player at the top end of the pitch.

I just remembered that Russo is mates with Ryan Reynolds. Can we get our owner/s booted out due to some kind of transfer conspiracy. Why were they guests at Wrexham a few years ago? One long winded plot.

O’Hare was our best player without the ball. However, his excellent pressing was all-too-frequently let down by his teammates’ total lack of understanding of when and how to press.

I’ve been having a debate with Balham Jnr Snr where my viewpoint is that we’ve received about double O’Hare’s intrinsic value (£3-4m) but the painful bit is our inability to replace him. Balham Jnr Snr disagrees and thinks we’ve sold short (in his defence, he is 9 and plays FC25 on his switch, signing Haaland for £116m).

Nobody is getting a tune out of cannon… I’ve never seen such a disinterested players in a long while

You're overthinking this.
If you were at Cardiff , you'll know just how shit we are.
And CoH knows it too - from all those aerial long balls for which he was being asked to challenge - whilst Cannon floated around on the RW until finally the manager had to recognise it and hook him.
No wonder CoH is keen for a change of scene !
I think with COH it was more likely that his agent said Wrexham are interested. They are spending big and will be a shoe in for top 6 this year.
Don't think United will be.

They will also give you a pay rise.
Wrexham are confident in meeting uniteds valuation.

You absolute idiots
Wish Derby had signed him , he's a fantastic player and he's worth twice that much

Sheff Utd never seen to learn ..I can remember you looking dead certs for promotion one year , then sold James Beattie ( 34 goals in 62 games ) to stoke FFS of all shit clubs in the World
Surprise surprise, you never got that promotion
Shame O'Hare is talking out of his arse though
There's nothing big about Wrexham ..the media have a weird fetish for them because they're owned by some Hollywood knobs I wouldn't recognise if they passed me in the Street

I’m not sure Wrexham will be a ‘shoe in’ for top 8 this season. They seem to have a mish mash of players. I’m not sure how O’Hare will fit in with their system. Parkinson under proper pressure now. I still think he’ll be sacked by Xmas if not challenging top 2

He never seemed to have a natural position to me. I liked the way he ran around in a "Scrappy Doo" fashion and popped up with the odd goal, but the fee seems reasonable for me. The big issue is of course, they lack of any incoming.

I hope they fall flat on their big fat North Welsh bottoms, the leek-eating surrender sheep.
