He’s never been particularly quick and is coming back from an ACL injury, so I’m not sure he is going to speed up to any great extent at this stage of his career. But maybe some weird alchemy involving Souttar’s transfer to Rectum might just do it, who knows.

The bigger problem they have is if they don’t go up to the Premier League soon - that their American owners & investors & sponsors get bored of waiting for their project to be complete. 100% Parkinson will be gone by Xmas unless they are in the top 2.

Great & accurate summary. The only concern they should have is if despite throwing loads of money at it that they still don’t get to the Premier League this season or next. After that I could see some US investors / sponsors getting bored & not renewing deals. They need to get promoted quickly to maintain interest. Hence why unless they are top 2 by Xmas - Parkinson will be sacked.

If anyone thinks we can replace McGuiness with a flawless cetre back with pace , presence , great on the ball , good in the air etc I think they are mistaken .

Any centre back we sign will not have every attribute , I dont think one exists that does , never mind one thats available within our budget.

What we have and the cover is as good as were going to get and probably more than adequate in the championship.

We’ve been properly spoiled with centrebacks for at least 10 years. Egan, O’Connell, Bash, Ahmedhodzicc, Souttar, Tanganga, going back further you’ve got Jags, Morgs, Killgallon etc… we know what good looks like but we do set the bar higher than most clubs.

We’ve also had to watch the likes of Claude David and Jack Robinson!

The issue is - what happens when people get bored?

The show can't continue for ever. If they don't achieve prem, the show will eventually stop, the sponsors won't come and they'll be like the rest of us, just with a considerably higher wage bill

Depends how you define success for a club like Wrexham really I guess.

If the don’t get promoted to the premier league, the money will probably dry up within 3-5 seasons when the tv show and sponsorship dries up. but they’ll be left with state of the art stadium renovations and training facilities built around being a future premier league club.

They’ll have a squad worth a fortune based on their current spending trends which they’ll be able to sell off if required.

They’ll have gone from the conference to flirting with the premier league and having all their facilities re-built from top to bottom.

You could argue that it’s already been a humongous success and something from their wildest dreams already and they probably won’t just disappear back to the conference due to all the investment they’ve received already.

Parkinson has done a fantastic job,he is very underrated at what he does and has done. He schools Wilder whenever we play against him. Always very difficult to play against.

Currently the new rules are benefiting them because of the ridiculous amounts of revenue coming in.

I do think they have until end of next season though before it starts to unravel. If not promoted by 2028 they will have had 3 cracks at it.

I get the sentiment regarding Parkinson and im surprised he's still there. He actually IS a dinosaur but he's riding the crest of the wave. They had their chance to get rid early last season but stuck by him which is rare these days.
Theyre actually running the club phenomenally well. I just think their fans are entitled cunts.

Agreed, I had to stop watching the documentary in the end purely because it was so frustrating seeing how their owners have gone about everything compared with ours. It's a textbook example of how to build up a sports brand from basically nothing, while protecting the identity of the club and keeping fans onside. Sure it helps that the owners are celebrities but if that was all there was to it they would have crashed and burned without ever getting back into the league.
