I’ve watched back quite a few of last weeks Championship games and honestly no bias our defence has looked one of the best in the league.

Sometimes scrappy, but no nonsense defending, mostly organised and keep our shape well. I think one of the things we are doing better from these 2 games compared to last season is we are not allowing the other team to get easy crosses into the box. Burrows and Seriki have been far better at getting closer to their man.

Tanganga and McGuinness seems to be working, if we can potentially bring in another half decent attacker on loan I honestly think we will be okay, i’m just not sure where the goals will come from right now.

It is a tactical change back from the tactics Selles & Wilder had last seaon. Our fullbacks are not defending narrow and it gives the opposition less tme to cross. It forces them to make a decision rather than us making one if our fullbacks were inside the box. Its a change I am happy to see.

It's all about keeping your shape. I think Phil Jones has jammed that into their thick skulls. So far he's worked wonders. Best defensive record in the country right now. Shame we have the worst offense in the Championship. Don't come the games and expecting goals...at either end

Yep defence looks a lot better and with a more composed finish from ohare we win that, all this talk of centre halves coming in and McGuiness having no future may well have been the ultimate mind games from wilder, who knows, but it's certainly given McGuiness the kick up the arse he needed

It's essential to have a solid defence. I'm confident that we'll start scoring goals soon enough. How many 1 - 0 wins did we have in the 92 point season?

I'm chuffed for McGuiness because he's our player and he's got some good qualities that we can utilise in both boxes. We need to spend what money we do have on a winger or two!

I remember when megson took west brom up many years ago they had 15 1-0 wins in the league, well what I actually mean is I recall them having a lot of 1-0s so I googled it just before I posted this to make me look like a smart arse

It’s something to build on

With one decent striker and maybe 1 and a half creative players currently we aren’t going to score many this season or entertain.

We NEED some loans in to carry the creative burden. We might not need to spend on souttar.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact it’s going to be a gritty fight this season - it’s not going to be fun. Not enough flare / pace or creativity in the squad to create consistently at this level.

Whilst the defence are doing well, Seriki has to learn how to retain possession of the ball.
Yes he has to take chances to get past people, but his passes out of defence are 50 50 and sometimes he just runs into people with seemingly no idea of what he is hoping to achieve.
Pace, strength yes but there is so much he needs to improve on.

Fair play to the management. Results in the first few games are important because it shapes how teams set up in the future to play against you. Lose too many games and teams think or we need to go for these, conversely keep things tight and win a few then teams set up more cautiously. I think the two teams we have played are good measures of how we will do this season - all three will be mid table.

McGuinness is limited. So is Tanganga. But if you allow them to defend to their strengths and not continually set up leaving them exposed to pace, then they will be solid and decent.

Forget about Souttar unless the price is silly. We still could do with another CH, but it doesnt need to cost us a fortune. McGuinness is slow but solid. Need some wingers, United!

Agreed, attackers don't seem to know how to get through so seeing attempts to get crosses in behind our defence but we're coping well

If Mcguinees makes an error I hope fans stick by him, so far it seems like he'll be an asset in this lineup
Don't think we have any choice but to stick with him as no one else is coming in! But he's done ok. Pity Wilder has told him he has no future at the Lane!

Drove me crazy today.
We say he's strong but he gets muscled off the ball quite a lot. Even his overlaps end in a goal kick, a foul to them, or a cutback to their defender. Last week Wilder said he had to get his head down after a bid came in for him. Hopefully its not affecting his attitude or performance.
