Club are just going to have to wear this one and accept £5m-£6m. We’ve taken advantage of other clubs players being in their last year, now we’ve just got to be pragmatic, do the deal asap and move on.

I have no clue if we owe Coventry anything or not. Obviously hope not, but last year of season i'm not convinced anyone will pay £5-6m for someone who by the end of that contract will not be worth a great deal due to their age.

Maybe Coventry want him for the season after next where he's at his level, and a squad filler for this season.

Genuinely think we’ll be better off without him, I’ve said it for years. He’s unfit, undisciplined and gives the ball away in dangerous areas. People ignore this because he can score the occasional great goal or provide a good pass. It’s a good job Coventry got promoted and have some attachment to him, otherwise we’d not be able to sell him.

I think we COULD be a better side without him even if a replacement scores and assists less BUT the replacement has to be someone who balances us much better than he ever did and preferably with pace

Selling a talented player isn't the end of the world if you use that money correctly just look at the David Brooks sale. Imo none of those players who came in were better but made us stronger in total

This is where football is a matter of opinions. I presume you think he didn't deserve to win our player of the year in the 23/24-year, Championship player of the year 24/25 and be in the pfa team of the year 24/25.

Deluded springs to mind.

Who do you think we will replace him with then?

Taking all the factors into account anything over £5m will be an acceptable price.
Not to us put to the people wanting to buy him, who know that we are not prepared to let him run down his contract.
The only hope we have is if another club or clubs toss their cap into the ring, but that effect will be minimal as Hamer has clearly said that he prefers Coventry and they can offer whatever they want.

What have I said that’s deluded? When he was out of the team last year, we saw our best run of results. I suppose you’d say that’s a coincidence.

You can’t argue he’s unfit or undisciplined. He looks overweight, can’t do 90 minutes, looks like he’s blowing out of his arse after 60 minutes and gets lengthy suspensions every season.

We’ll probably replace him with an athletic winger on loan from a premier league club, I’m all for it.

As for him being the player of the year 23-24, the bar wasn’t high was it, Jack Robinson was runner up!

what teams did we play against?

Hes unfit yes i agree, but he has always been a bit agressive. Thats what gives him that edge. He has a bit of fight in him!

Yeah great shout! lets get a winger on loan from a premier league team to develop him and then he goes back at the end of the season. Pay his wages and we get no returns whatsoever!

As in the premiership season 23/24? Anel Ahmedhodžić? Vinícius Souza? If we didn't have Hamer, we would have been a laughingstock and finished bottom rivaling derby for their points total

As I've said before deluded pal.

Thanks for Gus Back, done you over a barrel aswell with the fee.
Enjoy Bolton away.
Go on then will take a little bite.... "done you over a barrel" presumably meaning "to place them in a helpless position where they have no choices left and must do what you want"

Strange that we are so helpless that we have rejected a bid for Hamer https://coventryobserver.co.uk/spor...r-gustavo-hamer-rejected-by-sheffield-united/ as reported by your very own (presumably you live in Coventry) local newspaper/website which was also reported by Sky sports. So in a helpless position but we can say no to an offer. The player's transfer fee will be guaranteed to be undisclosed with a rough idea being leaked to papers, currently nobody on this forum unless they work for SUFC or Coventry in the relevant departments know the actual valuation both parties are trying to agree on. For a club like us a fee that is in the millions is pure cash and a big chunk salary off our books. For a player that lasts 60-70 minutes in the championship usually before going off, is injury prone and discipline prone he will be found massively wanting in the Premier League, which has got stronger since we were there never mind "you"

We are yes. When we made the payment, it was spread out through his contract so e.g. if we bought him for 10 million on a 4-year contract, we would give them 2.5 million a year. Now he is the last year we owe them that final year.
The offer accepted was 15m with a sell on clause of 15%. There's one last payment due soon of 3.75m.

Enjoy your moment in the sun. I think we did you at the time with the fee for Gus too. So it's swings and roundabouts.
Fee ain't agreed yet but he goes for nowt next summer which is why it's not at least what we paid you.

We ain't been to Bolton away for a few years, you haven't been to most PL clubs away for 25 years.
Enjoy it, if you can... we might be seeing you again in 12 months time.

If you call petulance, ill discipline and snide no need for fouls: aggression I agree with you. Unfortunately the guy behaves like a petulant school boy who we turn a blind eye to as he can be a brilliant footballer, but surely so much better if he did not pick up stupid bookings and giving the ball away in stupid areas

They're doing the billy big bollocks tact of "Buying him still for squad depth and to come off the bench"
If and when it happens Hamer wouldn't be 1st choice in midfield. We've just spent nearly 50m on 2 midfielders. 1 of them is getting announced any minute. His best position is CM/AM. It's our strongest position.

I'm not saying he isn't good enough. He would have to wait for his chance and earn a starting position.
