Selles was only here for five league games. If we mirror wilders results from those five games he would have won an extra 4 points (He drew against Swansea, beat millwall, lost to Charlton, Middlesboro and Ipswich).

Based on his signings from January (and the previous Jan) we definitely would have wasted money on bloated useless signings.

I think we’d have been more than 4 pts better off as the squad was poor Selles hadn’t got a clue we were severely weakened by the player sales and what he brought in I’m not sure we’d have got anything near 90pts though.

I'm trying to explain to you that you can't blame the issues at the club on one singular person, especially when we continue to have the same issues season after season after season.

Either

A) Selles was in complete control of all scouting, data analysis, contract negotiations, fee negotiations and player sales, in which case why do we pay millions a year for a CEO, Head of Scouting, Data Analytics and a Contracts Manager when one man can do it all?

B) Selles was badly let down by the (lack of) structure of the club that would enable any other manager to come in and deliver results. The fact that the current club structure comprises of Wilder's mates that would be out of a job at any other club I'm sure is purely coincidental. Anyone at the club with any talent (Andrews, Lester, Hecky, McCall, Knill) have all been able to find gainful employment away from Sheffield United, something our current mob can't.

Lest we forget he started the season with a centre-back pairing for Bindon and Norrington-Davies, and a bench that had One, Marsh, Ukaki, Sasnauskas & Soumare. Do you think that was Selles' choice or was he badly let down by the club?

Clubs get managerial appointments wrong all the time. A most of them address it quickly and go again (Norwich, Southampton etc...). We're stuck in a doom loop because we've got a board to afraid or too incompetent to address the underlying issues with the club - and that issue is that we're run like the worlds biggest pub team.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. He wants the plaudits when it goes right he needs to take the lumps when it's going wrong.

Or he could take a step away and go back to being a fan so the club can move on.

Not exactly what I am saying is that I’d Wilder or another manager had been in charge the transfer window in the summer would have been different and far better which has a knock on affect for the rest of the season ie if Moore hadn’t gone then he can’t score against us and we most likely wouldn’t have signed Barry. Changing managers or comparing them is paradoxical because things may follow the same time line but with different players and that creates different systems.

Well then the set up in place since 2016 until the Selles/bord era certainly got lucky...or knew what it was doing without much owner funding compared to the clubs we would want the same level of success as.
