Footballers today show some incredible ball skills and despite being a bunch of pampered Nancy boys, they can be quite skilful. Looking at pitches today, and the technology that goes into them, they very rarely 'get a bobble' like they used to. Same with boots, with todays offering being little more than a soft shoe with studs on, no wonder the pretty boys fall down so easy when their foot gets touched. All the talk about modern footballers being better is bollocks, if the players from my era had the advantages that today's players have they'd easily match them, and probably surpass them in every department.
Anyway, here's some boots from over the years, both good and bad with some being the dogs bollocks and things I could only dream of when I was younger. Yes Adidas 2000's, I'm talking about you, you beautiful bastards. My personal favourites were the Puma Kings and Adidas World Cup, or Copa Mundial that makes them sound so much more glamorous. I stopped at Predators as that's when they started getting gimicky for me, kids running about in 6" of mud weren't going to suddenly get good and start bending it like Beckham because they had £100 boots on. Concord Park pitch 3 being one of the great levellers for example
