There's no chance Souttar plays League 1 football this season.

There's no reason to think we can't be in for him one way or another.

Just need a bit of luck (he chooses us) and some commitment (£) from the owners.

Thing is, Stoke seemed to have moved on from Ashley Phillips then, and Spurs have clearly bought enough centre backs to not need him, so why aren't we trying to get him? It annoyed me that for whatever reason we didn't push ahead and sign him last summer!

Can see Boro getting involved in a few more targets from this point, cashed in on Hackney and have a 20% sell on for Morgan Rogers who looks to be moving for £117m. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Souttar links, he would be a hell of an upgrade on an ageing Luke Ayling.

Out for a year with ACL and Achilles tendon which required multiple surgeries. It could be said that he will be stronger after the surgery, but it is a lot of money to spend and I assume a large proportion of our budget on a player with recent injury records especially when Leicester only paid £6m for him from Stoke .

Whilst a good player, in my opinion if we cannot get him for £5m we look elsewhere, he is a good player when things are happening in front of him but not quick or nimble enough to justify a higher fee. But it’s all about opinions

But surely you understand that the only major injury he's had is that? If you go off that we should've never signed O'Hare or Cooper and theirs were worse.

Agree with the fees but every fee is absolutely bonkers at the minute and I do feel if we did blow the boat out on anyone. It would be him.

I like souttar but the injury and costs do make it high risk. It's a tricky one and no matter which way it goes people will claim "knew it would work/flop/should have gone for him" when for me it's a coin toss as to what happens. Of course if he goes elsewhere and isn't the same nobody will be praising the club for dodging a bullet!

I’m not ITK but there has been absolutely nothing so far this summer that gives me any hope of signing anyone of Souttar’s quality, has there? He’s on huge wages and we’re clearly skint, sold one of our best players to a divisional rival and replaced him with a youth player from Brentford. Out bid on Dobbin who by all accounts we could only afford on loan. Hamer just seeing his contract out. Not linked with anyone of any real quality and we’ve just given Wilder a contract extension. Been a disastrous summer so far. Hey ho we’ve only had since February to plan for next season!

No. Two separate major injuries. Out for a year with the ACL. Then out for well over a year with the Achilles.
