I feel like I’m in a time portal, it’s 1985, it’s Peter Withe, Ken McNaught, Dennis Mortimer, Phil Thompson…. it’s 2026, it’s Seamus Coleman, Kalvin Phillips, Jairo Riedewald, Joe Rothwell. All you’ll smell at the Lane soon will be stale piss, Werthers Originals and Moggies. I think Wilders trying to beat Mike Bassett for the oldest ever Pro when he picked Benson and Hedges for England when they were 46.

You best go watch your local team then.

That said he even saw fit just over 12 months ago to release Selles. So he does have some sense.
And didn’t decide that because Selles didn’t work out he would never employ another foreign manager, so a big tick for that as well.

Don’t make me think of that 5-0 drubbing at Plough Lane again!!!!

Don’t make me think of that 5-0 drubbing at Plough Lane again!!!!

Seem to recall that. Wasnt it pissing it down all afternoon onto that very wet and uncovered away end? And then the long trip home after watching us gain another arsehole after Wimbledon kindly tore us another. We were bad that day.

My expectations are incredibly low.

I fully and wholly expect the squad to have a net weaker quality by the end of the window. I think we are where we are now, and despite a period of relative recent success and added income, we don't have much to show for it now. I think we're intent on downgrading to a middling side that can be plucky, rather than competing at the top end of the table.

I think we will hold on to what 'better' 🙄 players we have and build around who we have, rather than adding any marquee signings and established quality.

Cooper - Tanganga +1 - Jairo +1 - Bamford/Cannon is your spine.

We might bag a few young loanees or a few freebies to supplement the squad, we might be relying on Wilder motivating his squad, grinding out a few results, seasoned pros having a good day, maybe Hamer smashing in a worldy, if he's still here. Fine margins, to win matches and being in with a sniff of playoffs at best. Mid-table at best, with a hint of pluckiness. Certainly not one of the powerhouses in the division. Your best players and any quality are already here, we won't be bettering what we've already got, and it's now more a case of how many we lose along the way.

I think the only way we spend money is if we sell Hamer / Peck / Burrows

Wasn’t it Dennis Wise that tore us to shreds that day? One of his first ever games…

Out of contract player - "Do you think you can find me a club before the season starts on at least a one year deal."

Agent -"Watch and learn son. Watch and learn."

* Ring Ring *

Wilder - "Hello, Sheff United, Chris Wilder."

Agent - "Hi Chris, I'm the agent for an injury prone out of contract player, who's played 43 games in the last 3 seasons, but he's over that now (winks at player). He was in a Premier League academy and once came off the bench for that club in a third round League Cup match against a League One team."

Wilder - "You had me at hello. Does he lack in technical ability but has character, will thump the badge and does he have a surname that I add "sy" to end of as a nickname?"

Agent - "Yes."

Wilder - "Will a three year deal do?"

Agent - "Absolutely. Let's get a medical sorted and we'll see you at Bramall Lane soon to sign off the deal."

Wilder - "Looking forward to it. One last thing, can he last longer than 60 minutes in a match."

Agent - "Ooo, not really."

Wilder - "He'll fit right in then. I'll get some Peronis in ready to celebrate."

Agent - "See you soon Chris."

* Hangs Up *

Agent - "Every. Single. Time."

We've only signed one player and he's 19
Think Ken Mcnaught was older.

Ffs we’ve had a load of new players and their agents rock up at the lane today to sign, but the shutters are down and doors locked with a hand written note “gone to Spain, back in a few days text us. Chrissy”

And it looks like someone forgot to cancel the milk as well
Sorry but have you visited the club shop?!

Anyone know who the the guy with the winged tattoo on his neck is modelling the away shirt? Can’t seem to recognise him?
