Amazing. That Jones is a player i have never heard of. Mever seen him mentioned on here either.

On the appointment you’d say it has some logic; Jones is a recent footballer with big club exposure. He can relate to modern players and his playing days are known.

You wonder how much the likes of Peck and Arblaster can relate to Knill other than being a nice guy. The trappings of a modern footballer are far away from his heyday as a player.

Nothing lasts forever but the club has to evolve somehow.

It's a very valid point Knill is 62 this year whilst Peck is 22, Phil Jones (this is a 1st now, coaching wise that I know of) is younger than me at 34. Jones played for England at the 2018 World Cup and capped 27 times in total along with 169 matches for Man United winning the FA Cup and Europa League. Although doing well at playing level doesn't automatically make you a great coach, it is clearly something he is wanting, he talks a good game. He might not have the legacy of Jaap Stam playing career wise but Jaap Stam's coaching career hasn't had any major highlights yet.

There’s a decent body of evidence showing that elite level players don’t make great managers, they struggle understanding why players can’t execute what they want not realising the difference in ability.

Players with less illustrious careers won’t be asking for pin point 70 yard passes or a winger to beat three defenders.

Some CAN do it - Some can't (Bryan Robson springs to mind!)
but how do you know if they're not given a chance??

Really don't see a problem with this. He talks a good game!

I really do recommend for people to listen to any podcasts/videos he is on and I'm sure you will change your mind if you're against this appointment.
Hopefully with the addition of 1 maybe 2 quality central defenders and Phil Jones in the coaching role we are stronger defensively next season and we don't lose so many points from winning positions
