Our season ticket sales are always higher than at Sheff Wed….they’d love to sell 20K tickets.

Regards the upper tier…..
remember McCabe proudly stating the new upper tier offers loads of flexibility as we can offer away fans various amounts of tickets up there.

The very first match the new BLUT stand was opened we had a sell out crowd of 31.7K against Liverpool. The capacity was 32.5K that season.
There was 3K Liverpool fans in the lower tier and an extra 1.5K Liverpool fans in the upper tier……with netting covering 800 seats separating the fans.
I remember after that match loads of Blades complaining that they couldn’t get tickets for the match and since then we’ve never given away fans any part of the upper tier for league matches.

Not sure why we can’t do something similar….for certain matches we can offer away clubs an extra 1K to 1.5K in the upper tier.
They could still be a large no mans lands selecting the fans and the doors in the concourse areas can be sectioned off keeping the fabs apart.
That might be down to SAG & not the club allowing that , never mind an 800 seat no man’s land Spurs etc have 2 rows of seats with stewards in them for segregation.

Fair response. I believe the decision the board made to get rid of Wilder and go in a different direction was the right one, they just made an absolute pigs ear of it. It still is the right decision, Wilder has done nothing this season, despite being in charge for circa 40 games, he also personally cost us promotion the previous season too. He’s in real danger of of ruining his legacy.

His signings are socking, his football is poor, never takes responsibility and some of his antics are embarrassing.

I’m done and I’m not sure I’m the only one who feels like this, over half of our large group of season ticket holders have stopped going over the last two years. There’s nothing to be excited about 🤷‍♂️
and yet you're still here.

But according to the 10000 posts on "Let's sell the Season Tickets Out" on Pigtalk they're looking at selling 25000+, just below the " we are the biggest club in the EFL, much bigger than West Ham"

First time I won’t have a season ticket, I’ve just had enough at the moment, haven’t enjoyed my football for a while and it seems we have an ownership that are now scrared sh*tless of making the necessary decisions after making a mistake with Selles.

Now we are left with a manager well past his sell by date and an accountant making football decisions and protecting his mate. If this changes, I may consider renewing in the future.
I sympathise with your stance.
It seems that after the highs of 16-20 , we've contrived to chuck away what was achieved in that golden period ,
And now we've squandered our final parachute seasons , through incompetence at every level.
I haven't felt so "disconnected" since 15/16.
But I've renewed again , mainly through peer pressure , not through any kind of enthusiasm for what's to come.

Since I had my first ST in the late 60s , Football's become a repulsive industry.
You've got NJ & NY suing FIFA for overpricing.
You've got widespread corruption in UEFA , the PL & EFL.
You've got an almost fixed membership of the top flight - which we've twice proved we're not capable of joining -
even if by some fluke we ever got there again (highly unlikely now).
So I try to convince myself that the PL doesn't exist and we'll be a decent Championship club.
But how is that sustainable ?
In sport , once you decide that you're not striving for the top , you tend to regress.
The outlook is very unsettled.

So you think , well , I'll keep going and try to enjoy the players coming through , see if I can't find some new heroes or leaders.
And then you get that argumentative lump Tanganga made captain - how on earth could Wilder consider him a "leader of men" ?
I'm left searching for any scrap of inspiration but I'm afraid - from the clueless (and now reluctant) owners to the overpaid players , the cupboard is pretty bare.

Since the overseas money has ramped up the only way forwards now is for an European breakaway league, how that looks is a different question as you have seen both Villa and Palace win European competitions where does the line get drawn as to how our top flight compares with the rest of Europe and how many teams should get involved one option could be to create 2 leagues of x sides across Europe and playing home and away before the winners of each league play each other for the European final. I am happy for us to be a competitive/mid table championship side but if we are doing that it would nice to have at least one cup run a season or 2 to keep the interest up.

Good God yes !

But I have to admit that - for now - the joy's gone from following dem Blades.
Apart from the matchday lunch with mates , the excuse for travelling to Sheffield to see them , the gallows humour and the gossip on here 😉

The percentage of my life now occupied by my club is ever receding , which I guess is a natural progression for a grandad who doesn't live in the city.

We walked the West Highland Way in April , went babysitting in Philadelphia in May and tomorrow the wife & I are off to Svalbard hoping to see polar bears , walruses , whales etc.

Gotta say that - after 10 years of retirement - it's been just brilliant.

Humbly accept that we were part of a fortunate generation , unlikely ever to be repeated - free University , emerged with jobs abundant & affordable housing.

Many fears for the subsequent generations , particularly vulnerable to corrupt popularism & indoctrination by lies delivered onto their screens.

It's exactly as Orwell predicted.

But hey ho , fortunately my kids have inherited their parents love of nature , animals , wilderness & scenery.

So they should be ok , which is all that's important.

Frustrations with a footy club are a spec of dust really.

Agree for most part

First went to BDTBL in Sept 1970, my baptism was followed by 5/6 wonderful years when football and football kits were awesome - the anticipation of going to the match was palpable , Fridays were no sleep nights .

What followed were years and years of downs with the magical unforgettable interludes of the wonderful Dave Bassett , the rascal Neil Warnock and our own Chrissy Wilder .

My kids had season tickets but found other stuff to do - the group of us who went home and away went from ten to two to now just me as my best mate passed away last December, ironically on the way home from the Lane .

I have had a ST since 1975 and have renewed again for next season whilst seriously considering not to .

I have 4 wonderful grandchildren wirh another on the way ,decided to buy a holiday bolt hole on the east coast and now work when I want , or don’t want .

Yes, we were the lucky generation, but we also had to make our own luck .

Anyway

Some of the best British humour comes from adverse circumstances or poor decision-making.
We've got so much of that material being Blades , we can have just as much fun laughing at ourselves as when we get the great moments.
It's one key difference between us and the pigs , who can never seem to smile in the face of failure.
They are far too serious about it and their life must be mainly hell.
The confirmation of that can be seen in their weird outpourings of emotion to Chan & Storchio , at the faintest whiff of modest progress.
Folk on here might think I'm "negative" but I just call it as I see it - without delusion - and try to laugh at our club's imperfections , of which there are SO many , you do wonder if there's any intelligence amongst those owning & running the club , or is it all an AI prototype , a bit like the govt 🤣

Just got season tickets for me and lad, didnt get them last year ,the first time in years as i was really pissed off with football. But tried to get my old seats they had gone got them 2 seats away but looking at the seats around where we were sat it looks like a large percentage have not got tickets are have moved. Will be nice to be back as a supporter rather than just a fan. Hoping for a good season but not expecting one .utb

and yet you're still here.
Just because they haven't bought a season ticket does not necessarily mean they are not still Blades and have stopped supporting United.
I thought long and hard before renewing at the last minute, if I hadn't renewed i would have still come on here.

"I am happy for us to be a competitive/mid table championship side".
What is it with United fans how can we be so vastly different from the S6 Debt Dodgers ?
We really are the Unlucky Alf in Football supporters.
I want United to be an established Premiership side challenging for Europe and Domestic cups, otherwise what's the point in turning up every week.
What Palace have done gives me hope its possible for us to do that.

I'm hearing this more and more for the upcoming season from all over the place, an awful lot of new ST holders, think we'll do well next season numbers wise.

To moan and whinge ,because we arent in Europe, thats all you ever do anyway.

What Palace have achieved is tremendous and some of the players they have there are excellent at a smaller London club, how they managed to get Mateta there was an outstanding move, along with Hendo was brilliant. However from a league point of view they have been a mid table club (not necessarily a bad thing in the PL) but over the last 3 seasons they have started to slide a bit (10th in 23/24, 12th 24/25, 15th 25/26) and have to be careful that cup wins and manager switches doesn't bring them into a relegation fight .

The S6 lot are glory supporters due to the size of their ground (once an impressive Northern venue) they were able to link themselves to being "massive". But those days have gone and without £100's of millions being spent they aren't going to be challenging anytime soon.

It's a big risk vs reward when promoted, when we stayed up a 2nd season under that spell with Wilder, I would have been delighted with 15th and then slowly built the club, the problem with the Premier League, is when you go up you have a dilemma of either spending £150milllion and swapping out 15 players and hoping they gel in a bid of staying up or bringing in a couple to try and bridge the gap of your Championship squad to scrap for enough for 17th, Sunderland have excelled at that, Leeds have done enough too. But the problem then comes with spending more cash the following season, as the next 3 coming up have that dilemma too.

Many people (including myself at times) have asked why I am a Sheff United supporter, apart from following in the family footsteps as I could have gone down any route, I got addicted to the players that wore their hearts on their sleaves, their work ethic and how they didn't leave anything out on the pitch, it wasn't pretty at times but was fun to watch.

Maybe lower your expectations Broomhall, you may enjoy it more after all it is Sheffield United

Who's moaned and winged about us not being in Europe ?
I actually said I would like to see us in Europe something I think is possible that is all.
Do I really whinge and moan all the time ?
I don't rate Wilder and I have voiced my concerns about that but that is my opinion that's all.

what's the point in turning up every week.
Every one of us probably has a different answer to that, and many will only come if we are having some sort of success or think that we might be on the cusp of it. And that’s fine, each to their own, it’s not for me or anyone else to judge.

For me, it has been a lifelong commitment and a series of rituals that extend way beyond what division we are in at any given time. Of course I would love us to be successful and achieve what Palace have done. But that isn’t a condition of me continuing to go, in the same way that my dislike of the current manager isn’t a reason for me not to go. I’ll be there as long as I am able, no matter what. Some times are more enjoyable than others, but that’s all part of the soap opera of supporting a club.

Just seen the prices for season tickets for next season. An adult first time buyer has to shell out £667.50 or £29 per match in the JSS or Laver Stand and on the Kop, it's £537.50 or £23 per match. Can't imagine we'll get many new fans at those prices.

Those are extremely reasonable prices for what you would be getting. Yeah you don't get the renewal discount (duh), but christ, that is not a piss take price

The season ticket prices are too high for me. I can't afford the lump sum of £400 plus.
So I will pick the games I go to. 3 pm or 12 noon kick-offs are no problem, but the 5.30 pm or 8 pm ones are not.
This is because no buses after the game finishes. I'm a pensioner, so I can't do long-distance walks anymore. I go on my own, and so I have no car.
Taxi fares are above £20, so I can't afford them. I have Sky Sports, so I can watch the mid-week kick-offs live.

Great post. Nail on head for me, although a bit more globalist than me in respect of holidays.

We used to laugh at the pigs and Chansiri levels of ticket pricing, but we are not that far behind them now on the price of tickets, in fact just had a look and a new ST at the sty is cheaper than at the Lane £600 for their best seats and only £440 for the kop 😲

As a former ST holder they did send me a "come back to us" email but at full whack they've priced me out of it now. If they really want ex-STHs to come back it might have been an idea to offer some kind of halfway price tier between the renewal price and new customer price imo

If we were charging £600 for pub league people would still complain.

jt64 Interesting observation don't you think?
I don't get your point. I was quite surprised at how expensive the Owls prices were.Remember they had a boycott and disenchanted fan base so far less renewals at a discount. I thought they were encouraging season tickets by offering brilliant prices. I have no problem with us charging more than them we are after all in a higher division and despite our complaints have much better facilities. Of course football is too expensive but as an over 60 renewing on the kop and able to pay in three interest free instalments using pay pal it is still a decent price. Football is becoming more and more a sport for the middle class and football tourists wether we like it or not. I wonder if the regulator when not to busy getting Wednesday promoted might not try to influence ticket prices. Good luck with that.
