Feeling sorry for West Ham Fans

Football is a bee atch though.
As much as I dislike Leeds I have found myself enjoying their style this past season.
Perhaps DCL has influenced it but there ya go.
I'm seeing my psycho analyst next week.

Leeds have always been an awkward one for me, living where I do, although there are the odd blades fans not too far away, its mostly Leeds and the odd Bradford fan. Since their promotion to be fair to the Leeds fans that I have encountered they haven't been as arrogant as they usually are, they were nervous about the possibility of relegation well into March. When chatting to one he said that they are on the brink, if they stay up next season, he could see them kicking on but the next 4 years are crucial that they have to be in the Premier League due to the ground expansion, if not he said he could easily see the club go bust as its costing them £200million although not sure if that is with interest/how that is financed i.e. is it direct cash from the owners. To take up to 53,000 capacity apparently they already have an approx 25,000 season ticket waiting list. Thinking in real terms, they will have to give a min of 3,000 away ticket sales. So based on current capacity the opportunity for an additional 15,000 home supporters. I remember when we were playing them at under 29,000 supporters in the Championship, when they dropped to league one their support was around the 18,000 mark. Leeds although I don't watch them much unless we are playing them, I have found they do play decent football at times 25/26 and did well to stay up, even though the end of the season comments of Farke saying he was more about the status quo was a bit strange for a club that is progressing. Not sure if he remembers that he got relegated with Norwich and Leeds were a yo-yo club.

What - exactly - are you defending here?

Do you deny, for example, that Celtic fans, who largely hold Glasgow's Catholic diaspora as their cultural, tribal grounding, are unsympathetic toward Irish Republicanism, Scottish Nationalism and therefore by triangulation, support for anything which is 90 degrees to English/British political centring? I mean, that photograph is pretty representative of Celtic supporters, is it not? 'The Green Brigade' were behind this overt political stunt and the club itself appealed for the display not to happen, yet the fans chose to overrule that and display some or other message over supporting their team beating Athletico Madrid. They also sing pro-Republican songs at games, which is contentious.

So what are you defending, Frank? It's okay to stand your ground if you have a point to make, but just doing it 'because' is a bit tawdry.

Football is made of moments, this was one that will live forever in my mind.

One of the most enjoyable moments of that season for me. Let’s hope we have some bollocks next season and don’t just be the team that can’t beat a side near the top of the league again.

The 'ongoing genocide' bit is somewhat contentious. There appears to be a ceasefire of sorts by Israel.

Besides, I don't doubt many football clubs have a strong cohort of fans who share sentiment with the Palestinian cause, but we seen nil demonstrations of flags. It's a football match, not a pro-Gaza march.

Seems to me that Celtic fans have a propensity to be opposed to anything they believe is mainstream 'English'. Again, were they a bit less bigoted, they'd possibly find out that some share their thoughts whilst some are ambivalent.

There's a bit of a difference between 'quite a few' (which I stated) and what you are now extrapolating it to as 'everyone'. Pretty hyperbolic if anything.

In any case, you allege the furore around their tribalism being based on 'social media', when in actuality, the club itself recognised it and appealed to fans not to demonstrate such viewpoints, as detailed in the BBC (mainstream, not social media)

Your affirmation that Celtic fans are not partisan is also based on a few people you know. Given the ones I know do hold such views and are quite strident in their singular dislike of the English (so, um ... racist, if anything) and are quite versed in Irish Republican, archaic anti-English lore and that at football matches, entire sections have been decked ouy in whte/green/red/black flags (and not say, green/orange/white) I'd say what you say is in fact ... bollox.
