If Brian was watching tonight i am sure he would have been generous in his praise for our performance. However,if he could of got his hands on the Forest thug who assaulted Billy Sharp he would have ensured he never attended another Forest game for life. The modern day cunts who masquerade as fans need to be hit where it hurts, big fines, big bans and the ghost of the wonderful Brian Clough to haunt them for life, shame on you whoever you are.

Thanks Brian Clough

Recommend a book published last year, Be good, love Brian,by Craig Bromfield, a story of kindness and generosity not only from Cloughie but the whole Clough family. Have to say I'm a biased because I think he's up there as one of the best managers ever. This story shows another side of the man , in ways more telling of him as a person rather than a football manager

Warnock told a story about him, saying Stuart Pearce went down with concussion in a one game and the trainer said to Clough. Hes got to come off Brian, why said Clough,
He doesn't know where he is or even who he is said the trainer
Well tell him hes Pele and to go up front then said Clough.

What about the one where he walks in with shoes covered in grass and his wife says "God, you're getting grass all over the carpet!"?
His reply was "Sorry, and please call me Brian".

The bloke who wrote that used to post on here when Nigel Clough was manager. He followed Nigel wherever he went as a manager so he’ll be supporting Mansfield now.

He had his demons but he was a great character.
I remember being at Clough's last game - sitting amongst the Forest fans with sadly deceased Fulwood Blade (Alan). He couldn't contain himself towards the end and a Forest supporting woman behind us bitterly complained that we'd ruined their day.
I'm looking forward to reading 'Be Good, Love Brian' - not quite got round to it yet

A genius that man

His management techniques were really odd ball….it was as though he was mad but it kept everyone on their toes.
He had such charisma he could say anything to anyone…..and get away with it.

I remember Forest buying Gary Megson and after a fortnight of signing him.
Clough told the media something like “can’t believe how poor he is…..he couldn’t trap a bag of cement”
and he never played a single match for Nottingham Forest. Obviously Megson and Clough must have had a fall out and Clough taught him a lesson.

Also I remember an interview on Radio Sheffield with ex Rotherham manager John McGovern.
They asked him what made Clough such a great manager and asked if he was a tactical genius.
McGovern said Clough never really covered tactics….that was down to his assistant Peter Taylor who did most of the training ground stuff.
He said Cloughs main job was his pre match speech and half time speech and he’d say things like
‘Cologne are German champions but I’ve watched them and they are not that good. We play our normal game we’ll definitely beat them”.

There’s a story he agreed to pay £1 for Trevor Francis making him the 1st million pound player
But Clough insisted the contract said £999,999 because he didn’t want the million pound tag to go to his head.

In those days Clough had so much power….he was more powerful than any player or any owner. He was an expert in mind games.
Players had heard of his reputation and seemed intimidated by him….he wouldn’t last a week in today’s football.
He also hated agents and would sometimes simply refuse to talk to them.

Clough was a totally unique character…..they’ll never be another.

After Clough signed Francis, he told him to make him a cup of tea!

I must admit to thinking the quote 'he couldn't trap a bag of cement' was directed at John Sheridan.

The best biography of Clough I read was Nobody Ever Says Thank You by Jonathan Wilson. Bizarrely I met Jonathan Wilson on the walk up to Wembley before last season’s play off final

Most of you have probably already heard this, but for anyone who hasn't listened to Mark Crossley telling brilliant stories and perfectly mimicking him on this episode of Undr The Cosh, it's absolutely hilarious and I urge you to have a listen and brighten your day.

Wasn't the flowers story proven false by Nigel?

Old Jigsaw 🤣

Some brilliant stories told by Mark, especially the one about Cloughie making him play for his sons Sunday league side because they didn't have a keeper and then deducting the fine they got for fielding a ringer from Mark's wages.😂
