We can't complain about fitness and then moan if we sign a player like Slater
We can if we dont need him. He plays CDM and hes not replacing Jairo in the first 11. With the rumoured return of Phillips hed be third choice at that position. Central midfield is our strongest position with Jairo, Peck, Rothwell and Blaster as it is.

He's not strictly a DM, Peck will be going, Riedewald will probably miss 20 games, and we have no one else of his profile - someone robust who can run and do a bit of everything

Well hes scored 11 in 200 plus games for Hull so that's 2 a season so hes definitely not an attacking midfielder. Anyway he will probably be signed in the Banner with Wilder and Hoyland having a pint with his old man.

If we need a player of that ilk get Brannigan from Oxford who is a better player and scores goals

Let's see who wants to sign Brannigan then

Wilder will want someone of a similar profile to Peck to plug that hole, regardless of how many other CMs we currently have. If we can get someone better then fine, but we could do much worse. As we did last summer

It's a no from me regarding Slater, watch his last 4/5 games and he just trots around doing nothing, bar a couple of tackles he shite, just shows how low we're going

Wouldn't fit what we need at all, and wouldn't even be cheap.

Slater has had one good season for Hull. Massive downgrade if that's the plan.

Dull City will be bottom of the PL with a record low total points score. Derby will be pleased as Dull won’t get into double figures next season.

Personally I’d say there’s more chance. Middle of park will need a big upgrade for Dull if they want to compete.
Agree 100%. They’ll be releasing anyone they can and upgrading if they’ve got any intention of staying up. People in this thread are arguing about whether he’s good enough for us so there’s no chance he’s good enough for Prem.

For all the “Dull will do a “Derby”
They’ve played 3 finals at Wembley and won each one to nil.
We’ve done 10 play off campaigns and remain the most serial losers of the lot.
They’ve also got an ambitious owner and a very tactically astute manager with a strong infrastructure behind him. His in game management is top class, his players consistently refer to it. Plans A, B, C, D, E, F….

Whilst I doubt he will be starting next season he will provide depth for them in a position where having a good engine will be a plus

If the manager trusts and likes him then can easily see how he is a bench warmer who starts cup games etc for them

Hull had perfect opponents to be fair

Boro are serial bottlers. They're nearly as bad as we are, and overall probably worse - at least we've got automatic promotion twice recently

Slater will stay at Hull now and play a few games in the PL, as he should

They aren't half going to need a total squad transformation though!

Hard to say how Hull will go. After Wembley, we all thought Sunderland would "do a Derby." Look at them now.

Everyone's certain we'd have been awful, but who knows what conversations were being had with investors.

Would be surprised if Hull will "do a Sunderland or Leeds". They werent allowed to pay a transfer fee to sign a player for the 2025-26 season.

The time is right for Acun Ilicali to sell the club and make a huge profit?

I thought Slater was excellent yesterday. A 2 year deal at reasonable wage, as part of the rotation at CM would be a good thing I think.

People need to understand the limitations SCR creates. If him coming back here providedeven a 5% discount on his wage, that's now a huge bonus.

They've won a League Cup and played in a European final since 2000. We've not played in a League Cup final (ever!) and never played in Europe, so they definitely aren't as bad or worse than us.
