Billy Sharp - Why Not?

First you say...

I think he's a realistic target and the type of striker we'll need next season.

Then you say...

He's not pulling any trees up at Donny, and there weren't any top end Championship clubs in for him on loan. He's not played regularly over the past season or so.

And therein lie the answers why he shouldn't be considered.

If he was scoring goals in the Championship then he wouldn't be a realistic target. People are bit delusional if they think we're going to get a striker from levels above who are in the midst of their peak form.

We'll be able to sign young up and coming players (ie Mason Bennett) or strikers that aren't currently scoring and who we can take a gamble on (Billy Sharp).

The second of my quotes shows why Championship teams wont go for him, thus giving us a realistic chance of getting him.

For what it's worth, I don't think Sharp is what we need at all.
We need...and it's been said on here a few times....is a big strong centre forward who can hold the ball up, mix it when he has to, can weigh in with a few goals and provide the perfect foil for Baxter, Murphy, scougall and Flynn.
The person who fits that description perfectly and is within our range is Davies.
If we get him I will be very happy and in my opinion our business will be complete.

All the fans suggestions are rubbish, no offence like. That's why clubs have scouts, they get to see far more players than we do.
We no doubt have a load of scouts going all over the world looking for players, yet we never sign anybody foreign or anybody from non-league. That's where the bargains are. Why aren't we taking those chances like every other club does? Ok we've finally started with a few of the Jocks who have come in, but i'm not convinced that's the best place to find a striker. Scotland isn't exactly known for producing lethal strikers in recent years. Tricky wee dribblers maybe, but not strikers. We need a first team striker who fits in with the style, plus someone lively who can come off the bench to get a late goal. If none of our scouts know anybody who fits the bill, what are we paying em for?

How easy is it to attract foreign players to come to League One though?

League One is a bigger league than most countries' top divisions

Billy and Danny Webber up front, what could go wrong? Fuck me, if there is ever a set of fans who look back as much as us I would hate to meet them.

Surely we can bring in Michael Tonge? :)

Is Billy Whitehurst available?
