Hull say £2.5mill and a three year contract (with a year option)

Meaningless in the end but credit to the club for, albeit briefly, refusing a £2.5m bid. Lot of money to turn down.

Good move for him, a good fee received & a replacement already at the club of similar ilk in McGahey

Now can we move on...

Don't care he's gone to be honest. Good luck to him. I'll roll my eyes when watching him getting ripped to shreds by Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez and co. on Match of the Day in a few weeks time.

All I have to say now about Harry is that he gave me some proud moments. However the petulance and disrespect he's shown to the club results in me eradicating any sort of respect for him. He didn't give a shit and why should I about him. That's why I will not wish him good or bad luck in the future.

But if his career was to go downhill from now then I couldn't help but have a wee grin on my face.

He did nothing wrong, but neither will I be if I choose not to applaud him should he appear for hull at the lane due to the way he's forced through the deal after previously accepting the club's stance regarding staying unless the valuation was met.... I don't imagine he really cares though...
Next season probably !

I love having that 'wee grin' on me face...you know, when you're really busting after a few pints and you've been stuck on the mini-bus...you can finally 'let go'....ahhhhhhhh, marvellous!

This is what our co-chairman said yesterdaAnyone who feels the same might wish to let Maguire know that, in the usual way when he next appears to play at BDTBL.
Ahh, you mean act like a small minded twat? Same as some bitter twisted arse that thinks Jags handled on purpose against Wigan...:)

Disappointed with the fee as it will not rise above 2.5million
]
Considering the reservation that some (I included) have about him succeeding at the very highest level, I'd rather take 2.5m now than 1m now and 4m on the never-never...

So, just for my personal benefit, is the general feeling that £2.5 Million is a terrible deal for a L1 player in the last year of their contract?

Just checked Twitter to see the general reaction of the transfer and the transfer fee. Here are some of my favourites, good reading.

"have i just read 2 and a half million for harry maguire? Hull city, youve had your pants pulled down, i wouldnt pay 2 and a half quid!" - Rotherham United Fan

"Can’t wait to watch match of the day every weekend now to see Harry Maguire get ripped a new en" - A Blade

"Glad we've got the Harry saga sorted sooner rather than later... Loosing Kevin McDonald once the season started hurt us last time. #SUFC" - A Blade

How anyone can be peeved about this is beyond me.

We have got good money for a player in the last year of his contract who would NOT commit to a further contract.

He has performed well for us, has been a good servant, and now we turn a tidy profit. If only the club could manage to do this will all its players !!!!

Its a loss, cos he has performed consistently well at L1 level. Whether or not he is PL standard is now Hulls problem, not ours :)

As long as we remain a L1 club, this type of thing was ALWAYS going to happen.

Good luck to the lad. He is young and is simply wanting to try his hand at a better level and be compensated financially in accordance with his new found PL player status !!

We have players already that can fill the gap and NC can use the funds to further strengthen in the areas he deems need to be strengthened.

Onwards .....

There's only one post out of 5 just on this page before yours saying is wasn't great, so the "general feeling" probably is that it's a good deal.

Anyone any idea on the split re money? Heard its 2M + 0.5 based on appearences.

2 things I can finally say.

1) If he never dressed up as Captain Caveman at a Christmas do, he missed a trick.

2) Will enjoy seeing him get copious yellow cards next season when he finds that trick of acting like a drunken best mate to opposition strikers (arms round the neck in classic ''Ah fuggen loove yoooo'' pose) isn't tolerated in the top tier quite as much.

It was Harry who cost us any extra money when we were trying to hold out. Have a go at Harry, not the club for this one. Anyway let's move on to the new Harry who could be better

Harry left because he didn't want to spend a fourth year in League One going to the same tinpot grounds. There's only 1 person that could be blamed for that: Ched.

Err, I think Harry signed a contract to say he was OK with playing for the club for a set period of time, don't think the contract specified which league that was in. If he wanted a non promotion or relegation release clause he should have inserted one.

And what about the players that played after Ched was sent down. (2 seasons worth) Is it their fault Harry left as well?

Poor poor Harry.

I'm peeved about it.
He was our best player.
It's very well saying its good business, but selling your best players gets you nowhere.
I know there's very little the club could have done, but I'm peeved all the same.
Also peeved for my lad as well who at 5 years old is just starting to get interested and attached himself to Harry as his favourite player (shortly followed by Brayford & then Coady). So its 'sorry son your favourite player now plays for the mighty hull cause they have lots more money than us. - thats football! Also your 2nd & 3rd favourites arent coming back. Pick a new favourite, and be prepared to do it every year if he turns out to be any good. cause thats football.

I wouldn't believe that piece of shit if he told me the world was round.

Always amazes me that we are ready to take other people's comments at face value but our own are basically lying with every statement that they make. (Not aimed at Loughborough just people on here in general)
Always amazes me how were ready to accept our manager saying what he says over someone else just because he's our manager.Last weak Bruce quite clearly said they were looking at other options and that they moved on,and then yesterday we accept a bid, when normally you hear from the club making the bid first, for example,Hull make an improved offer for Harry Maguire for a fee in the region of........,that never happened.Get them red and white specs off for once ffs. They are 2 people saying different things,so why the fuck can't someone have an opinion on there version of events.

Good points and good logic Dronnie.
I like the way Clough brought in replacements in expectation of this.
Not our normal way of conducting buisness. Future is very bright,.

Look at it this way nowtfancy. this will prepare your boy for disappointments later in life, so it'll toughen the wee man up and he won't feel the pain quite as much as he might have, so with every cloud there's a red and white lining.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that if Hull hadn't come in for Harry we could have gone through all this and received £1.5 million from Wolves...with probably £800k up front!

Harry wanted to move on.
End of.

I'll keep my view on Harry short and sweet - good deal for sufc, good move for HM and I think he has the all round ability to make it as a very good premiership central defender, maybe not with Hull City....

Yes cheers, I just want to make sure he's hooked before he starts getting the blows, the second half of last season was a great intro !
When I was a lad and getting into it I was safe in the knowledge that Tony Kenworthy wasn't going anywhere.

He's not going to do a Jordan Slew... He's a proven top centre half in league one at absolute minimum. £2.5m is a good deal in the circumstance, but if we didn't allow him to run down his contract we could have held out for far more. Was a 5 year deal when we started league one out of the question? So much weaker than the back end of last season already, play off disappointment looms if we don't start making some proper signings.
