They have already turned !Pointless topic at the moment, he wont be sacked. The club are shit scared of life without him & Wilder has the excuse of 'look what happened last season with me 90+ points' and look what happened in the summer without me.
I think if he doesn't start well next season then the fans will start to turn.
I think you are being generous, fans are already not renewing season tickets.
If he doesn't hit the ground running he will be lucky to get 5 games.
If we look for a manager from abroad here are a few suggestions with managerial/ coaching experience; Axel Smeets,
Laurens Ten Heuvel, Roger Nilsen, Jonas Wirmola and Carl Veart. Hans Segers could be our goalkeeping coach and Georges Santos head scout. All these not only should please those in favour of looking abroad but keep our Bladey Blades onside as well as they will get the club.
Sorry should have said 5 games before fans turn on him.Don't think he'd be sacked after 5 games but yeah the pressure will soon ramp up. I do think he knows this though. He often talks about how not everybody wants him as boss. He clearly reads social media and sees the split.
Just thought he could help the owners raise cash by advising them on which matches to bet onCan l just say fuck Hans Segers the car ringing see you next Tuesday.
Very valid point.
Let's sack our manager, appoint a-n other, employ an AI model to hoover up a whole bunch of random players.
Any potential new manager is going to look at that fiasco and think, that's not a well run club.
Though no one on here is pointing that much blame at the new owners - yet.
After all many were saying that we needed to use AI - think Brentford and Brighton,-what could possibly go wrong, though that narrative has died down after our summer debacle.
The James Bord ( Mr AI ) bid of near £ 40 million for the car crash that is Pork central shows that AI is as much bollocks as the future.
Let's just focus the narrative on blaming Wilder, as the scapegoat of this month.
Even the more optimistic Wilder supporters agree, there’s a decent chance he won’t be here in 6 months’ time.Sorry should have said 5 games before fans turn on him.
All you’re suggesting is replacing one person with responsibility and power with a person of no responsibility and power.Even the more optimistic Wilder supporters agree, there’s a decent chance he won’t be here in 6 months’ time.
Given this, it’s madness we don’t have some sort of football director whose job is to plan around this.
As a club, even if going with Wilder as our plan A, we need an active shortlist of managers who could replace wilder (a) this summer (b) at any point during the season his position becomes untenable and (c) from next summer
And given there’s a high chance Wilder isn’t the long term answer, we need someone overseeing his summer business to make sure he doesn’t do anything irreversible or to hamstring a future manager (e.g. shipping out young talent or putting too many Wilder-only players on long contracts)
This is exactly why directors of football were invented - we need one so badly for exactly this situation.
Are we saying here that Wilder isn't doing good? If so, who can do better, and how do we know? Has life come to this? All bollocks really or do we all know the answer....All you’re suggesting is replacing one person with responsibility and power with a person of no responsibility and power.
I don’t get it.
If the argument is that Wilder has too much of a fingerprint on the club and everything has to be done his way then how is that different to a DoF? And who is this DoF? And if the coach he hires is failing then is it the coach’s fault or the DoF’s fault?
You can be sure the DoF will be untouchable so, why opt for that? It will be just a cycle of hire and fire but accelerated like at Watford.
How does that bring stability?
It’s like it’s a trendy thing to state as an answer even though the club is nothing like structured for such a set up,
I just don’t get the clamour to be like Watford![]()
KJETIL KNUTSEN?Yeh yeh, another Wilder sacking thread
However, not seen one with potential solutions, so this is my opinion for what it’s worth.
I am of the growing opinion that Wilder should be sacked imminently, or, we should be actively talking to managerial candidates now with the view to bringing them in as soon as the season finishes.
This begs the question…who?
I’m of the opinion we should aim high but aim European. This smacks of Jokanovic thinking but I want a Northern European manager - because I think - and it might be a stereotype - they are less emotional than their southern European counterparts and offer something more structured and strategic. That’s just my take.
I’d like to put forward:
KJETIL KNUTSEN (Norwegian)
He’s manager of Norwegian side Bodo Glimt - I know, that’s probably a major step higher than Champ football as they’re in the champs league and for their size, do pretty well in it. But that is all down to him.
He’s never managed outside of Norway so I think this restricts any of the so called top 6 clubs in the major leagues tapping him up so I’d definitely say he’s a mid-lower Prem / top-end Champ manager.
However, why would he come here? Fuck knows. He’s doing fine where he is and he’s in the champs league. But, if I were our owners I’d be preparing a major offer, more than we’ve ever done on a manager before and breaking our ceiling to get him in. Sell him a project with the aim of being an established mid table premier league club in 5years (where’ve we heard that before?). He could see us as a stepping stone - if successful - to a much bigger club.
I’m writing this and thinking I sound a little bit delusional so no doubt you are too as the reader. It’s only one example of the type of manager I think we need, I’m sure there are others, but I really like the guy and his style of play and would deffo suit us as a club and fan base but with the added bonus of him actually knowing about how football tactics work.
Shoot me down.
The owners, who know nothing about football by the looks of it dropped a huge bollock when a complete reset was needed and managers available. He did ok at Reading and survived by the skin of his teeth at Hull, best performance at BDTBL,hardly did well even with sarcasm thrown in.
Well said that manWe had the same towards the end of last season. Loads of different threads from the vocal minority who are convinced that change will bring success.
A bit pointless really because Wilder isn't going to be sacked this summer. He is under contract next season. He will be in charge of the team in August and barring a disastrous Autumn he'll be here next year too.
Here's a thought. Instead of insisting we should sack our manager every season, how about backing him and the team, singing loud and giving the Blades your full support. Regardless of who the coaching staff are, who's on the bench, who is in the net or playing in midfield. That's called being a 'supporter'.
KJETIL KNUTSEN?
Sounds like an exercise you'd do to improve your performance in the sack!
Nobody, there's absolutely nobody that can do better. Are we saying here that Wilder isn't doing good? If so, who can do better, and how do we know? Has life come to this? All bollocks really or do we all know the answer....
He was spoken with before. Wouldn't even consider us, so I'm told, same with O'Neill. Not claiming ITK either.Rosenior would be a good choice if Chelsea sack him at the end of the season.

How can you have been told yet not be in the know ?
I have been following this club over 60 years home and away and seen shyte much much worse than this. Been to some of the biggest dumps of a ground you could imagine but always I believed. We are a traditional club and in the top 20/25 in the country, so we should always be striving for the top division and who knows what may happen. I have come out of grounds sad angry depressed but have never ever been a boo boy. I have my opinion and I want us to be the best we can be. But the whole Bladey Bladeness is so 80's. I pay my money I support my club I am entitled to my opinion as every other supporter is but I ain't going to cheer us falling off a cliff. FFS change adapt get into gear with the modern game. Oh and I think its very likely he will be sacked by Christmas and we will be in the bottom 6, and I will be at every game -that's also called being a supporterWe had the same towards the end of last season. Great stuff, knows the "culture". I think he's recently taken up a job in ChinaNick Montgomery who knows the culture of Sheffield United, was a good player for us good player for us.
Let him learn from Chris Wilder. He had a decent manager who won the Australian league. He went to Tottenham Hotspur as assistant manager, I think.
I Dont know if he is with a club now, but he could be considered.
I would like to see if we can set up a DoF role that is structurally below, and reporting to Wilder. (If he'll wear that).I think most people would like to see a DOF appointed as it would give some comfort that there'd be a 'football person' helping to make football decisions.
That'd be my motives any way. I don't think the current regime and structure dare make the decision to sack CW again, never mind pick a replacement.
