I’ve checked where we’ve got loans in/out ending at the end of the season and assuming most players on a one year contract with the option won’t extend.

When signing new players, I want us to go back to buying from leagues below, rather than reputation players above (probably not our choice anymore to be honest!)

First 11

Cooper

Seriki (Success if we keep him!)

Tanganga (Success if we keep him!)

CB

LB

Peck

CM (Jairo to sign for next season 🤞)

Brooks (Success if we keep him!)

O’Hare

LW

Bamford (Injuries worry me for Bamford)

Second 11

GK (Davies out of contract, I’d renew)

RB (One of Sachdev/Buyabu/Curtis)

CB (Nils Z maybe?)

McGuinness

McCallum (Buyabu playing LB for FG)

Rothwell

Arblaster

Chong

CAM (One of Marsh/Oné to take step up)

Cannon

Campbell

Squad Players

Faxon

Tom Davies

Marsh

Oné

Sell

  • Burrows (£3-5m) I like burrows but seems to have become disinterested and inconsistent. If someone offered that money for him you’d have to let him go and look elsewhere.

  • Hamer (£8-12m) A top asset who now looks unbothered. One of the best players I’ve seen put a blades shirt on but it just feels like it’s the end now.

McCallum was our best player before he got injured.

There's a 12 month option on Reidewald's contract so he'll likely be staying.

Tom Davies is out of contract and will be released.

Get shut of one of Cannon or Campbell to give Oné a realistic pathway to the first team (I'd happily get rid of both tbh)

I thought Tom Davies had more time on his deal but obviously if it’s up in the summer he’s done. Cannon and Campbell if someone offered appropriate money for em I’d sell too

Thst second 11 on this looks bloody terrible!

Hamer due to go into the last year of his contract will be under £5M ..Utd won’t let him run his contract down & the buying clubs will know this

one club only comes in maybe , but if theres competition , leeds coventry et al be an auction and possibly over 10
hold our nerve and not sell off too cheap is the plan

can also see Ohare attract some bids

start afresh , but not buy the trash in like Selles did. its the blades way , buy a lump of coal and pressure it into a diamond

Me personally would like to see something like.

A.Davies - Released
T.Davies - Released
Ings - Released
Mee - Released

Hamer - Sold (if not signing new contract)
Grbic - Sold/Loan (if no one comes in then 3rd choice, to allow Faxon on loan)
Matos - Sold
Peck - Sold (only if we can get a decent fee to reinvest)
Ukaki - Sold
Zätterström - Sold
Cannon - Sold
Nwachukwu - Sold

Marsh - Loan
Faxon - Loan
Buyabu - Loan

Activate 1 year option on Reidewald

Then we need to be cute with our recruitment, I dont want us to go all put an buy from League below like you, to turn us into chamionship fodder, 1 maybe 2 at a push from League below, but we need to look at investing in players with pace and directness with decent fitness.

Keep list - Cooper, Tanganga, McCallum, Arblaster, Bindon (if possible), O'Hare, Brooks*, Burrows, One, Seriki*, Peck*, Riedewald, Bamford, Rothwell. *If we can.

Cash in list - Hamer and reluctantly one from Peck, Brooks or Seriki. Preference would be to keep Seriki and Brooks.

Bin list - Cannon, Ings, Mee, Shackleton, A.Davies, T.Davies, Campbell, Chong, McGuinness, Matos, Grbic, Ukaki, Zatterstrom, RND, Chucky. Loanees to all go back but would sign Bindon at the right price.

Probably stuck with list - Cannon, A.Davies, Campbell, Chong, McGuinness.

Youth/fringe players - if they're good enough then Peck, Brooks and Seriki have proven that they'll play and keep their places.

Up to the likes of Curtis, Faxon, Marsh, Zatterstrom, Buyabu, Baptiste, Polendakov, Easton, Hampson, Sachdev, Sasnauskas, Blacker etc to earn themselves an understudy spot on the bench.

Priority is to bring in a starting standard CB and a CF - can't rely on Bamford to stay fit all season and have nothing in reserve.

We need to raise ~£20m in transfer fees in the summer. Wilder will push for that to come from one or both of Brooks and Seriki but the obvious choice is Peck given the depth we've got in central midfield and he should bring in at least £15m.

Hamer is gone. His head's been gone since January. We can only hope that we can get £6m up front from Coventry if they go up.

Releasing Mee, Ings and Davies and selling Hamer and Grbic will probably reduce the wage bill by £7-8m too.

We are stuck with Cannon, McGuinness, Chong, Shackleton & Matos unless we're prepared to subsidise their wages to get them off the books. The first three are, unbelievably, under contract until 2029 so expect to see them on the pitch for the foreseeable future.

GK: Cooper
RB:
CB: Tanganga / McGuinness
LB: McCallum / Burrows
CM: Riedewald / Rothwell / Arblaster
AM: O'Hare / Brooks / Chong
CF: Bamford / Campbell / Oné / Cannon

That's a realistic starting point I think

Seriki, Peck and Hamer are all likely to leave. Certainly 2 out of the 3

I think we'll be able to shift some of the dross, but with Cannon, Chong and McGuinness it's difficult

Most important additions are a commanding CB and a good replacement for Seriki

Hopefully Cannon has done enough to rehabilitate himself that someone might take a risk on him in the summer. He's not exactly set the league alight but at least he looks like a footballer now. We'd be losing money on him but the wages are better spent elsewhere if the opportunity comes up.

I think goalkeeper is becoming a priority for this summer, we need to release Davies and get in someone who can not just be a better backup but properly challenge Cooper for the starting spot once he's back fit again. Someone with a chance of becoming a regular first choice if Cooper never gets back to the levels we saw last season.

How long did Hamer have on his Coventry contract when we signed him?
One year. We bought him in 2023, his contract at the Midlands' most pointless club ran until 2024. That said, he was a 26-year old with his peak years ahead of him at that point and he wouldn't have been on huge wages. Fast-forward three years, he's our highest earner and he's at the point now (turns 29 in June) where he will start to decline. We'll take £6-8m.

Yeah, I'm not saying he won't have declined in value at all. He's three years older for sure. I'm just pointing out that he'd be in the exact same contract situation in the summer as he was when we bought him for a hell of a lot more than the guy I'm quoting says he'd expect him to go for. Heck, that'd be less than what Anel reportedly went for in a similar situation (yes he's a bit younger, but at the same time his position typically goes for a lot less than Hamer's does so balances out to some degree)

I agree with this. I’d like to see a new first choice keeper come in this summer. Not only because Cooper has been poor this season (he has), but also because he will be coming back from surgery and may take a while to come back into form. Cooper at least starting the season as second choice is important. Grbic can go. I know little about Faxon, but either him or someone new as third choice.

The rest will depend on who leaves, but we’re likely to need at the very least one CB, Jairo extended or replaced, plus a couple of new strikers (Oné could potentially be one of those).

We need to make much better use of the loan market next year, focussing on bringing in players that are better than we have.

It's a BIG summer needed, again.

I can see players like Hamer being sold. Potentially Burrows...

It would be fantastic if we could keep players like; Brookes, Peck & Seriki. [But could see 1 going]

I'd be looking to offload those wasting a space; Chong, Matos etc

Not fussed about some whose contract expire like; Ings, Adam Davies or even Mee [A shame given all his experience as it felt a smart move!]

If Tom Davies body didn't always let him down, I'd have renewed his contract because when he's fit, he looks a cut above.

I'd like to make Bindon permanent, or get him on loan again. The other loans, meh. That being said, I'd like to see more of that Hjelde - in case it could be a good move.

I think Cooper needs better competition, so I'd get a keeper.

I think better CB depth than Mcguiness, so 1 or 2 in this position [ maybe selling McGuiness too]

Two wingers [if we persist with 4-2-3-1] like Cleary from Barnsley & Mikey Johnson if WBA go down.

Midfield depth isn't too bad; Jairo, Arblaster, Peck [if he stays] and Rothwell. Maybe a loan coming into bulk this area? [especially if Peck goes}

Another striker to support Bamford. Cannon has had good spells. Ty has fallen off last seasons level, which is a shame. Oné - could be successful.

The board were reluctant to spend fees last summer when we had parachute payments and over £20m from the sales of Anel & Vini.
See various quotes from Selles were they were prioritising loans..
They'll be especially reluctant this summer.

I expect a few free transfers, but those like Chong and McGuinness will remain as squad players. Expect us to fully utilise the loan slots again..
Bindon will likely go on loan to another championship squad, unless we're able to nip that one in early. Forest will demand £5m plus which we will not be spending on one transfer.

Not sure about re-investing…..those sales might not bring in enough to balance the books.

We received £35 million from Sky this season…….next season it’s reduced to £7 million.

Much about our transfer strategy is out of control.
Basically if we receive a good big (£15 milion plus) for anyone….then we are under big pressure to sell that player whether we want to or not.
Just hoping there’s an auction amongst PL clubs for someone like Peck, Sereki, Brooks etc and we can get over £20 million.

Should've cashed in on Hamer in January.

Davies, Mee, Davies and Ings to be released.

Sell a star asset.

Try offload some shite bought in summer.
Where to start! - Chong for some reason seems popular with CW know idea why, Matos can only get in our U21s at the moment, McGuinness isn't good enough for this level and neither is Zätterström, Nwachukwu or Ukaki.

We need CB's by the bucket load and solid ones at that otherwise we are left with Tanganga, McGuinness and Zätterström, we need back up down the right in either a RWB or RB and if we want goals we need something up top too, although we do have One to replace Ings.

CB's an obvious requirement. Bindon returning wouldn't be that out there if Forrest stay up.

The other day I was looking to see how Souttar was doing. Still hasn't played since that boxing day v Burnley 😲
