Get rid of the OP, problem solvedWho do we get rid of…… ppl posting shite like this with a dozen games left![]()
I’ve generally really enjoyed the football we have played . I think Wilder has worked wonders dragging us from almost certain relegation candidates to possible playoff contention.
There We Are Then.
Didn't mean you - sorryWhen did I say sack him? Why does it always have to be an extreme of either sack him or give him a job for life?
Can’t I have concerns and still think it’s a good idea for him to stay in the job?
Judging by this, Chris is going nowhere for a long time.
If we could get rid of every single signing we made in the summer then I would. Has there ever been a window where we've had a lower success rate? The only half decent signing was Tanganga, and he's not very good either.
McGuinness, Bindon, Chong, Soumare, Ukaki, Barry, Zatterstrom, Matos, Tanganga, Mee, Ings.
Christ.
He's already proven he can get us to the Prem. And that's the most realistic thing we can hope for. Staying there is a long shot because of the insane money (and therefore quality squads) all the established Prem teams have.A lot of red tinted glasses worn on this forum, blinkered.
My opinion on Wilder has long been that he shouldn’t have come back for his second spell here. 3rd spell, even more no.
Wilder with money is a shambles. The guy isn’t a tactician either. We didn’t outplay Coventry last night, they let us have possession - Lampard outthought Wilder, you could see clearly that Coventry set up to nullify us and it worked a treat, we couldn’t break em down. They had more shots on target than us with a 1/3 leas possession. Let that sink in to all you pricks having a pop at me for even daring to suggest Wilder should be relieved of his duty.
This club will go nowhere with Wilder at the helm. He’s a man manager, a blokey mate and someone who can put an arm round a player but we’re being left behind tactically with him in charge whilst a new breed of managers and squad comes through.
WILDER OUT.
just go and support Man CityNo parachutes….
Wilder goes for me sooner rather than after the season.
Along with;
McGuinness
Tanganga
Mee
Chong
Davies
Shackleton
Soumare
Ings
Ogbene
Cannon
A proper clear out.
Why not start now with the manager?
We won’t have the current wage bill, a large chunk of which is wasted anyway. We will have planned for this eventuality. We will have to cut our cloth, but we won’t be “in serious financial trouble”.We are going to be in serious financial trouble with the current wage bill and no parachute payments!

Wasn't in the case that no team that lost 8 out of its first 9 games had ever stayed up?Because he's turned us around from being relegation bound and we have seen decent performances?
There will be a time again he isn't the boss and we sack or he walks. I don't feel that time is right now.
Who would you want to come in as well?
Exactly this. Although one suspects that the deals given out to some of the summer signings will make moving them on without ongoing support from United very difficult. We won’t have the current wage bill, a large chunk of which is wasted anyway. It would be nice to use some of the money saved in moving on the likes of Ings, Davies and Hamer to have Seriki and Brooks on longer deals.Exactly this. Although one suspects that the deals given out to some of the summer signings will make moving them on without ongoing support from United very difficult.
I'd hazard a guess that our top earners are Ings, Hamer, Tanganga, T Davies, Riedewald and Bamford. The ones out of contract (Ings, Davies) will be released, we'll actively try and move Gus on while he's still got some value which leaves Riedewald (option to extend), Bamford and Tanganga. If we've any pretence of mounting a promotion push next year we'll need to retain at least some senior pros and those three aren't a bad place to start.
The real problem is the long term deals, probably on £20k per week, handed out to Chong and McGuinness because nobody is going to offer anything close to that for either of them.
Completely agree but completely feel we won’t do any of the above.. we never learn and we move at a snails paceI expect one of Peck, Brooks or Seriki to go for big money.
Rest of big earners will go if we get decent offers (Cannon, Hamer, Tanganga, O’Hare).
Need to move on a lot of the squad fillers, Campbell, McGuinness, Chong, Davies x 2, Matos)
More than anything else we need to start properly preparing for life after wilder. Learn the lessons from last summer and don’t do it again. If his ego will let him it would be good for wilder to be involved so he can hand over the reins so we don’t have the cloak and daggers skullduggery we had the last two times he left.
Those with contracts expiring this summer that I'm aware of are Tom Davies, Adam Davies, Danny Ings, Ben Mee and Jairo Reidawald. We also have the six loans going back. That's a lot of wages that can potentially be saved? If it was up to me, I'd keep Cooper, Bindon, Burrows, McCallum, Riedewald, Seriki, Arblaster, Brooks, Peck, Hamer, O'Hare, Rothwell and Bamford. The rest can all go as far as I'm concerned.
Campbell hasn't scored in months and can't last more than 60 mins. Pretty much all of the dross we signed last summer are useless. While Cannon had a good run of form in December, he's clearly not fancied by CW and keeping him will only hinder One's development who will hopefully play a big role next season. Thankfully there's quite a few players with contracts expiring this summer so that should help clear some wages, as for Chong, McGuinness, Matos and Shackleton... Just sell for anything.
Can’t remember the drop off but it’s somewhere in the region of £20m p/y, those wages will make a dent but it won’t cover it. You’re also losing some playing minutes that need to be replaced some how. Those with contracts expiring this summer that I'm aware of are Tom Davies, Adam Davies, Danny Ings, Ben Mee and Jairo Reidawald. I agree any outgoings will require replacements. We also have 11 players out on loan! Can’t remember the drop off but it’s somewhere in the region of £20m p/y, those wages will make a dent but it won’t cover it. You’re also losing some playing minutes that need to be replaced some how.
agreed but would like to keep Bindon, Hjelde, Hoever,Seriously?
We are coming into prime Wilder territory yet you’d employ a guy in his first job who has spent most of his time in your football.
Have you seen how Ramsay at West Brom just faired?
This needs cool heads, not some maverick dipping their toes in.
We need to quickly undo the folly of the summer and let Wilder build from there. In doing so we need to relieve the squad of overinflated wages that fail to contribute.
Loans back (6) - Bindon, Hjelde, Hoever, Phillips, Soumaré, Ogbene
Out of contract (5) - Davies, Mee,
Riedewald, Davies, Ings
In contract (31) - Cooper, Grbic, Faxon, Tanganga, McGunness, Zatterstrom, Baptiste, Burrows, McCallum, Norrington-Davies, Seriki, Shackleton, Curtis,
Sachdev, Polendakov, Peck, Hamer, Brooks, Arblaster, Rothwell, Matos, Hampson, Chong, O’Hare, Nwachukwu, Ukaki, Marsh, Campbell, Cannon, Bamford, Oné
I’d say all the loans go back and don’t return and all the out of contract players leave except Riedewald.
Then you already have a squad of about 32. It will need trimming. Some loans out, some perms, to make way for proper first XI difference makers on loan.
It will then depend on which players you can’t keep as offers come in. Prime candidates are Hamer, Peck, Seriki, Brooks for instance though I’d tell Everton to get stuffed at every opportunity.
Then those you perhaps don’t really rate as first teamers who’d be better offloaded: Grbic, McGuinness, Zatterstrom, Baptiste, Norrington-Davies, Shackleton, Polendakov, Matos, Chong, Nwachukwu, Ukaki.
That would leave something like:
G: Cooper, Faxon
DR: Seriki, Sachdev, Curtis
DL: Burrows, McCallum
CB: Tanganga
CM: Peck, Riedewald, Arblaster, Rothwell, Hampson
AM: Brooks, O’Hare, Hamer, Marsh
CF: Bamford, Campbell, Cannon, Oné
You then need to sign or loan a first choice centre back, probably one more central midfielder and an attacking midfield or two and potentially more experience at right back and let one or two of the others on loan.
You might need to hold onto one or two of those you don’t see as first choices for cover or dip into the free market.
Work to be done but it isn’t starting from scratch. Challenge will be to offload players and of course replace those you lose reluctantly.
Am I right in thinking thats the first time Lampard has won against a CW side?A lot of red tinted glasses worn on this forum, blinkered.

That is not going to happen, certainly next season, have you seen the size of wages they are on ?I was a "Wilder out" after the Sunderland game and stuck by it. But assembling a competitive squad with pennies to play with is where he's best. Give him the chance to scrape together a team of Riedewalds and Bamfords.
