Goal difference may be important

The point being there are mixed views about Sunday. Some of us want to smash the pigs on Sunday, some of us want to feel a bit sorry for our neighbours?

I don't really feel either way, I have some sympathy for their predicament, but I also hate their self entitled view they are still so massive compared to us.

However, my over riding view is that goal difference may be really important when it comes to the end of the season. We have finally recovered to 0 difference. No matter who were bottom of the league at this point, and we are playing against them this weekend I would be looking to smash them by 5 or more goals. If its the pigs, then so what? Our thoughts should be about our own fortitude. No mercy.

19-0. Nailed on.

Really important? In what sense? I assume given your user name you are talking about a scenario that has been dead since way before the first derby of the season

Yes, we want to batter them. That would be great.

But let's not give the lads any grief if we struggle to put the ball in their net. Let's keep backing them and try to help them get those 3 points. That's what's essential.

I don't really care if we have to scramble a 1-0 win with a thrice deflected shot that goes in off the goalie's arse.

I don't know anyone, who wants us " to feel a bit sorry for our neighbours"

How many people do you actually know who think this?

Are they really blades fans?
Yes I do know lots of Blades fans who think this. To quote "like kicking a dog when it's dying". Everyone I know wants us to win. Many don't want them thrashed. Read the threads here. My point was no sympathy, no mercy we need to improve our GD. This is our chance.

Yes but most of the teams we are playing are above us with a clearer shout at 6th and other than Ipswich we’ve not done very well at all against them
Fully accept that this rollercoaster team may well flunk it. But there is a chance. And while that is alive I will keep up full support. The operative word in the OP was "may"

I don’t have any sympathy for them, whatsoever.
I find their ongoing predicament utterly hilarious.
I relish their demise with as much schadenfreude as I can muster.
I glory in their downfall because of their delusional sense of grandeur and their consistent displays of misplaced self importance.
Their arrogance and their disdain for other football clubs in the pyramid has really come back to haunt them and it’s delicious.

However, I have no illusions that Sunday will be anything but a tough game and the three points is the only prize to be cherished.

Yes, I’d love to watch us thrash them into the dirt - and that would be a huge bonus, despite the bollocks they are chuntering about how low they are. It’s a full league derby between the two clubs. Of course it fucking matters.

The fact that we have so many of the teams above us still to play is what makes it achievable.

When we hammered Wednesday at their place it kickstarted our best run of the season so far. It's still an outside chance but it's a month or so too early to give up on it.

Nothing's set in stone in February... except Wednesday's R.

A song from the 1980s started 'No pig fans in town, no Hillsborough to sadden my eyes'. I have always regarded this as a mission statement so yes I want us to utterly destroy them on sunday. No mercy
Well Jack Charlton is now dead, so there's been some progress in recent years.

It's a great opportunity to improve our (at the moment) non-existent goal difference. But in a local derby I don't think we can afford to count too many chickens.
The only sympathy I have with their fans is that no fans have any control over the actions of their owners and they are a particularly good example of an owner getting it all wrong. How many of them questioned who D-taxis were and why the stadium was plastered with CHANSIRI.
Their fans should never lord it over us when looking back at their history - starting with the stadium being vastly improved for the 1966 World Cup at little or no expense to them (as I understand), being able to host numerous FA Cup Semi-finals until the disaster and worst of all, subsequently continuing to use the virtually unchanged Leppings Lane end.

Chris and Alan's instructions.
"No mercy"

There is a difference between feeling sorry for a club that has been badly mismanaged and the sensible fans of that club.
I have no sympathy for the former but some for the latter.
There are also many non - blade fans who have similar views.

Fkg hammer them …the more the better .. absolutely not one ounce of sympathy for their club or fans from me or any Blade I know towards those deluded self entitled bell ends ..sorry if I’ve got splinters in my arse from sitting on the fence UTB ⚔️

While it would be great to play the match like it’s the last game of the season, we need to have one eye on midweek against Coventry.

So if we can get a comfortable lead and then take off a few players, that would be the ideal scenario.

I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for any of their fans as they wouldn't if the roles were reversed.

IMHO they don't have any "sensible fans" so the fact we can relegate them tomorrow is absolutely delightful as far as I'm concerned.

If we were to tonk them by an absolute cricket score then it would genuinely be my favourite moment ever following us.
