Osula and Jebbison both got moves to PL clubs. Suggesting that both were deemed 'good enough' at the time. I'd argue that Seriki, Peck, Blaster (24/25) and Brooks are better than both. Different positions yes, but we're actually seeing players playing the mans game, to a high level, in that group. Did we see that with Osula and Jebbo? Not consistently, no. And yet, they got moves to organisations that saw something that equated to PL standard/potential.

We have talent, and PL teams will absolutely be sniffing.

I think it was interesting that there were 2 sunderland players on the pitch yesterday (alan browne for boro and Hjelde for us).

It seems nowadays you need a squad to get you out of the championship and a different squad to keep you in the prem.

I don't know if off by heart but I don't recognise a lot of sunderland players this year from their line up last year...
15 incomings in the summer, plus a further 3 in January definitely helps but it is a completely different side and if you can offload some on loan, if it doesn't work out and you end up going down, you still can sell a few to stabilise the books and bring back the Championship players that have had 6 months- a year of Championship experience.

Interesting post.
Osula & Jebbo have the right dimensions & athleticism for PL success.
So PL clubs will always take a punt on the basis that you can coach a footballer out of an athlete but not vice versa.
Look at DCL - from my recollection he was "Bambi on Ice" with us , especially away at Gigg Lane one dark & rainy night.
But the Toffees persisted and he ended up briefly as an England striker.
I'm not saying he's had a spotless career , but you get my drift.
Seriki & Brooks have that kind of potential and will no doubt be snaffled away in the summer.
Peck & Blaster less so , because they rely more on their brains & attitude than on their physique , so the "PL development" which might be achievable with them is less.
That said , we'll need the money , so all four will probably be turned into cash for our rebuild.
Hamer might stay coz he's at an age for settling down in our fair city.
Poor old McCallum might be stuck here , not having had enough time to recover and prove his fitness.
After the loans disappear , we'll have a very small base from which to build.

To answer the question none of our own players, Phillips if he can get fit and stay fit

Hard to say.

On their day Cooper, Tanganga, Seriki, Burrows, Peck, Arblaster, Hamer, O'Hare, Brooks, Bamford and Campbell. Are all capable of PL capable performances. Some more than others.
K.Phillips and Reidewald weren't long ago at the very least squad players for PL teams in the past few years.
With Phillips probably being the best in his position in the top flight about 3-4 years ago of an England player.

Seriki and Brooks will both play in the premier league at some point IMO and probably Peck. when we have to balance the books prem clubs will take a punt for the price.
