Reported on Twitter by @Transfer_news24 that we're interested in Harrison McGahey from Blackpool.

He's only a young lad at 18 and hasn't got many appearances under his belt but he's very highly rated by Barry Ferguson, sounds like a real 'Cloughy type'.

Centre Back and can play right back, could solve cover issues all around with one more full back signing, if Maguire goes.

Has anyone seen him play?
 

Not seen him but sounds like he has potential, could be a decent squad rotation player.
 
Could be the obvious answer, go with experience for now and bring him in over a season or so
 
Mentioned in an interview with Clough last week. They've talked to his representatives but he would not be a Maguire replacement if signed

Virtually the same age and only played 1 less than Maguire had at the start of the 11/12 season :)

My Blackpool spies say he looks a brilliant prospect and they'd be gutted if he didn't sign for them. I'm sure our Blackpool boys are on the case.
 
I watched him twice last season he looks very good. Quick,skilful.composed on the ball and good in the air, i would be very happy with this signing.

I think Cloughies words were that we've been alerted to his availability, but we haven't acted on it
 
Rumours building up about this lad again...probably just based on what Nigel said in the recent interview...sounds a good player and one Clough might take the gamble on if Blackpool don't want to offer him the deal he's after.
 
Latest from a mate, lifted from one of their forums, believe it or not, who knows;

Used to coach the lad and know his dad somewhat.

Spoke to his dad this afternoon and asked what was going on with Harrison.

He told me that Harrison was happy to sign the contract initially offered, he didn't tell me the exact figures but told me it wasn't the best offer, but none the less he was happy to sign to get his career started.

However, Sheffield United came in with a bid (again don't know the figures)to release him from the youth contract he is on and Blackpool excepted it straight away.

I was a little confused by this as I thought Sheff U could just offer him a contract but, his dad said they needed to release him from a contract binding him to Blackpool.

Harrison is still undecided as to what to do, as he is very settled here and wants to kick on. But the Sheff U contract is considerably more than what we are offering him.

Guess we'll find out his decision soon enough.

He told me quiet openly, both Harrison and his dad know the score, with football in general, Karl and the way he works and how much of a missed opportunity the Sheff U offer could be.

Mcgahey will sign this week with Freeman and probably be revealed next week as a double signing.

We have made a 400k bid for Brayford that has been obviously rejected by Cardiff, we are preparing another bid.

Used to post on BM but got sick of getting shot down even when i had proved to be correct with my information.

It always amazes me the amount of point scoring, accusations and insults thrown around BM when people are just passing on info.

Anyway, he looks like a young talent who has had / has issues. One for the future rather than someone who is going to challenge for the 1st team but who knows, a few months with Morgs ;)

Latest snippets;

Having worked with Harrison, I know that he is a supreme talent.

If we lost him I would be bitterly disappointed. If Karl intends to do things differently now, one of his first action would be to sign Harrison to a 3 or 4 year contract.

If he is nurtured and educated properly in the art of being a centre back he could end up representing England one day, and I don't say that lightly.

He does have 'issues' and is known to be a bit of a 'headbanger", he played for Red Rose Jrs in Preston and went briefly to Liverpool and then to Blackburn. He did have an 'edge' to him that Liverpool wouldn't tolerate and Blackburn did for a few years before releasing him. Pretty sure he lasted less than a day at Preston and ended up with us. Something not quite right with a kid that plays at 4 different academy's.

From the things Barry Ferguson has said about him recently to the press, it seems whatever problems he may of had when he was a kid are firmly behind him, maybe it was just a case of him growing up. Clough has spoken about getting the right sort of players and their attitude being a big part of that, so i'm sure he's done his homework on the lad.

I think having Butler, this young lad AND Brayford would more than placate everyone if/when Harry leaves.

Still can't quite believe Brayford is a possibility at this stage! ( and a signing, not loan!)

From what i've been told even if we don't agree on a fee it looks like he will join on loan at least until Jan, so unless another club comes in for him it looks good.
 
I thought he was out of contract (or at least only on a youth contract)? Hence why Blackpool supporters are so pissed off about the running of the club?

If it is the case, we'd still have to pay compo but not sure how we'd get him on loan.

Well BB, you've stuck your head on the block with names and timescales so no-one can say you're being cryptic or nebulous. The proof of the pudding, of course....

I hope you're right, of course. Those players together with O'Grady or May would make us truly formidable at this level.

I think it's very clever, but a bit sneaky, of the club to replace Harry Maguire with Harry McGahey and hope no-one notices!

Depends, one poster who used to post on BM got a reputation and then attacked anyone else if they had info he clearly didn't.
Think he believed his own hype and became quite arrogant which is why quite a few posters turned on him.
Basically for some posting ITK stuff on an Internet forum is a attempt to be the most popular kid at school, and they don't like competition.
Pathetic really, if you want to post what you believe to be true then do so, but don't moan if everyone doesn't swoon all over your posts. It doesn't mean anyone should be treated like a deity.
