wolves fans hated him stoke fans loved him so it looks 50/50 whether he will be a success with us but what it does give us is a bit of breathing space for seriki we can use him sensibly now weve got back up for him wilder has created a similar situation as with mcallum and burrows on the left

General consensus seems to be that he's a tidy player in possession, athletic and quite good offensively. Less impressive with defending.

Should fit in well with a Sheff Utd side that also embody those traits.

Nah, i don't see anybody "worth moving to" will come in for either this window.
They're not going to leave for a Championship club and unless someone daft like Newcastle did with Osula come in, I just don't see it - "yet"

Seriki is. I remember his interview after he scored that he mentioned he prayed to god for the goal.

The interview is here. He sounds like a great lad, really down to earth

He asked and he scored! Finally proof for all the God doubters out there. Case closed.

I think you're onto something, but I don't want to go down a rabbit hole of religion / race.

I think Wilder has a very set view on what a good dressing feels like, that is one that's full of characters not too dissimilar to himself.
Old school British lad culture.
The HR lingo for what Wilder probably has is "unconscious bias."

We've heard him banging on about "culture carriers" and at times that has blinded him to what's happening on the pitch (see Jack Robinson Vs Rob Holding for example).

Wilder likely has no idea how to talk / connect with reserved shy types like Seriki and Brooks and has them down as "sulky." He couldn't get much of a tune out of a very talented JRS either and I'm sure if I racked my brains I'd be able to find other examples.

Elite managers have a lot of emotional intelligence and are able to connect to a variety of individuals from different backgrounds.
It separates them from the EFL types.

Once more, Wilder's scapegoats seem to be - bizarrely - Seriki and Brooks.

Weird behaviour.

It's becoming obvious there's some issue there.

"[Andre] Brooks just played where he wanted to play, Femi [Seriki] didn't do what he needed to do. Pat [Bamford] came on and made a big difference."

Of all the players to name drop. What about fucking Chong he is beyond diabolical. And Arblaster was terrible but he would never dream of slagging him.

Nice words for his mate Pat though. Weird bloke.

We scored twice after they came on.

It feels odd to single these two out when seasoned vets were far, far worse.

They're not long out the academy. It's absolutely bizarre to keep digging them out like this.
Wilder made ten changes today, don't think it's that Seriki and Brooks are scapegoats, or at least I hope not.

True but their recent performances have set really high standards and they weren't at that level today. Players like Ings, Chong and McGuinness played to their usual standard i.e. shit.

I mean they both lost the ball 9 times out of 10 due to the mindless dribbling they do a lot of the time. Brooks is normally the biggest culprit for it though.

I thought he was just trying to get on the ball and force the issue. I quite like to see wingers swapping sides / overloading etc. during games.

Not a lot came off, but Jesus Christ did he see Chong?!
I like to see some swapping of sides as well. From where I was he didn't seem to be on the left wing. Him and Seriki never really combined on the right as they have done in recent games - that's maybe why Seriki looked poor.
Does Chong's hair get in the way?

I’ve never slagged Wilder off before, but I thought he was better than this (singling out Brooks and Seriki)

Going after your Academy Products after a shit game like they are your sacrificial pawns is something you see all the time after performances like this from weak, classless managers - and I really didn’t think that was his style.

Honestly, I think wilders reaction to the Brooks & Seriki subs was justified. He brought them both in to make a difference, but they didn’t really make any positive impact at all. Brooks decided to go and play left back as soon as he came on then pretty much abdicated the right wing slot for the rest of the game. I’m fairly certain that will not have been the instruction he was given when being brought on.

I’ve been one to have sung their praises very loudly over the last few weeks, but today both were very poor when they were introduced. Much of that was down to the fact that they didn’t combine once. IMO, Hoever went off and we looked worse for it, despite having Chong (who was pathetic) in front of him.

This is it. People can argue all day whether he was right to say it to the press, but what he actually said was spot on. Those two should have run riot down that right hand side based on recent form, but they were both very poor and every time we worked the ball down that side Brooks seemed to have gone AWOL.

By the time we brought on Brooks, Seriki and Bamford we were 4-1 down and Mansfield were playing two banks of 5 making it difficuly to get behind them, Brooks cross did force the own goal does that count as an assist? What did Burrows and Hamer do on the other side?

It’d be fine if it was the first time he’d done it with Brooks and Seriki. But he’s got form for it. I was talking about it the other day. CaptainMorgans is spot on with his longer post from yesterday. They just don’t fit the Wilder mould.

Burrows reverted to a crossing style most recently seen when Rob Kozluk played for us. This involved not being arsed to take the opposition player on and just crossing from ridiculous angles that are highly unlikely to create a chance even if they beat the first man. Really poor from him today.

He slated the two center backs as well? Or doesn't that bother you?
As a manger, if you send a player on the rescue the game, and he plays on the opposite wing to what you told him to.. I'd be pretty annoyed as well.

I’m a fan of Chris. But someone send him the Mansfield shirt to his office to hang up.

We never player anything like when we make 10 changes.

Simple as that.

As would I. It’s not that what I’m debating.

He clearly finds it more natural and easier to call out two young lads at any given opportunity, despite a whole host of other players - who he picked to start the game - being 4-1 down at home to Mansfield.

Mansfield had 10 behind the ball when he introduced Brooks and Seriki. It wasn’t as open down their side.

‘Right Andre, we’re 4-1 down after an hour, we need you to go and sort this out’

‘On my own?!’

‘Yes’
