Player Suggestion Will Smallbone

Hasn’t played many minutes since 23/24 but I don’t know if that’s through form or injury. Does feel a bit inevitable this one.

Certainly was a very good player. No idea if he is now after/with injuries.

Fitness of squad etc etc.

Free. 🤷🏻

Good player but as Captain M says above we need to be prioritising players that will actually be able to get on the pitch the majority of the time.

The fact a team in the same division as us are letting a player with his undoubted talent leave on a free speaks volumes IMHO.

But something about wages.

And the big signing on fee that free agents usually command these days. Well the ones in demand do.

They often ask for a similar amount to their actual transfer value paid up in cash.

Then the greedy cunt agent fees on top.

We spent £5m just on agent fees in the last set of accounts. Doesn’t including players signing fees either.

‘Frees’ aren’t free.

Yep the money goes to the player and his agent rather than the club. Smallbone would be a massive risk given his injury record and likely wage demands....however if we can bank a lot of money for Peck and get Smallbone for half the amount I can see us going for it

Avoid injury stricken players at all costs, can’t keep making the same bad choices every season

I don't think he's a crock. Had a problematic season or two, but prior to that was fine

We need more in midfield and don't have much to spend

If Peck leaves we need to replace him in some way. Smallbone occupies a similar space - right footed, deep/central, reasonable physically

This is a genuine low risk/high reward signing

We could assemble CM options to enable us to dominate possession

Signing a good physical DM may be more difficult and may not happen

Lundstram incoming! We all know it.

Wilder loves a controversial move to prove some imaginary point.

I’m behind him being manager but Chris doesn’t half have his blind spots at times.

If we didn't have the pre existing history with Luncunt I'm pretty certain we'd try to sign him

But due to fan reaction I don't think Wilder will do it now

Same with Jack Robinson, who I also think he'd gladly take back

I always feel like he has to make a point to fans because not everyone is in favour of every decision he makes and it irks him.

He did have his little Jamie Vardy rant that time.

To a degree fair enough those that he was speaking about in the pub but it’s not as if being a pro footballer is the no 1 profession that everyone had to seek and anyone not doing that is a failure.

Many footballers are thick as fuck and they happen to be fortunate that society has developed whereby kicking a bag of wind around to the amusement of others is somehow valued.

It’s a distraction. They aren’t adding something in terms of nation building.

So he’s entitled to his say but those in football do like to sometimes have a moment to do and say things that us mere mortals are not supposed to understand; I remember Dean Hammond’s unseen work and that was Adkins not Wilder - no mate it’s not unseen work, he’s just not in the game!

Anyway off the soapbox!
