Kike
A pacey forward, who is able to play on the counter attack as a lone striker. One who can run the channels, go in behind or hold the ball while our wingers overlap on the counter. Someone who is decent in the air if needed, but pace, the ability to link up play and comfortable to play upfront on his own when needed is imperative given our style from last season.
You got someone in mind?
Where is it "written" that these are the requirements ?
Does Lyle Taylor tick most of these boxes ?
Does Sharp ?
My point is this.
There WILL be championship interest / offers for his signature, of that there is no doubt. Clubs who can offer him Championship football and a bigger salary. I have no doubt that Adkins will be sniffing now that A L F has departed. There will be others.
As such Sharp would be a major coup for ANY L1 team. He has close to 150 career goals and will no doubt finish with 200+. How many strikers can say that ??
My personal opinion is that Sharp is a bespoke solution for our requirements right now and I also believe that Clough is of the same opinion. Pace over 5 yards is all that is needed. Which is to say speed of mind rather than speed of legs. Billy has proved his worth in this area time and time again.
Pace is great but not essential for an out and out CF. The running can be done around the CF that creates the panic and the space behind. What you do need is someone to "finish it off".
More important, if all of the Ched stuff is true, then the prospect of an Evans and Sharp front 2 is, potentially, as potent a strike force as we have had since the halcyon days of Deane and Agana. Would tear L1 a new one IMHO and might just be good for as many as 40-50 goals in this division.
Now THAT would get us promoted.
