Incoming? Hamza

It would be a huge gamble given the injury he’s had. I would want him to have proved his fitness by playing a lot of minutes before spending anything on him.

I'd be happy to gamble a loan spot on him even if he's just coming back from injury. He'd only be replacing Godfrey anyway.

I wouldn't want to gamble on a permanent signing though.

Weird that people rate Hamza so highly, he was pretty dire in midfield, often dropping far too deep between or behind the centre backs and leaving us outnumbered in the middle, exactly what we don't need someone to do, especially when we're overloaded with non-creative midfielders already.

He did an OK job at right back, but yet again it'd be signing someone who could do a job at right back rather than just signing a right back.

Agreed Gnome and my point earlier in the thread, we've needed a proper right back for ages so let's sign a right back not convert a midfielder who will be on massive wages. Im sure Wilder is on this and its right at the top of his list of positions to sort out.

we need a right back that likes stepping over the halfway line. What happened to
Jonjoe Kenny?

Choudhury is a good player and did pretty well for us at RB. A bright spot in an unsuccessful transfer window. I'm not sold on him in midfield where we urgently need someone capable of progressing the ball.

Looking forward, the club urgently needs to move away from only signing players that Wilder and Hoyland are familiar with from English football. We're just not getting the value we might if we started casting a wider net. That's partly Wilder's preferred approach and partly the club's failure to build a grown up recruitment system.

The example I always come back to is Wilson Isidor, who Sunderland signed in the same window as we signed Tom Cannon, for less money, and who has scored 4 in 9 in the PL so far this season.

He is definitely coming to us in January.

How do they play Thomas instead of Hamza,
especially when they're conceding goals?

said it on another thread choudray was laughing and joking with our lads at the end of the game saturday i think it could be on and think he would come back to the lane would be a great addition for midfield if jairo goes and cover for seriki at right back no brainer if we could get him and afford him

If we're keeping Riedewald and Soumaré this season then Choudhury isn't necessary, because we could also sign a more natural RB. But he'll probably be magnetic to Wilder and I expect he'll insist on him

even if we keep riedwald and soumare which i hope we will choudray would still be handy davies isnt going to do it for us and we dont know how arblaster will fare after his long lay off and we are going to get injuries added to the fact he can slot in at righr back we should definetly be back in for him if we can afford it

I can’t see us being in for him. Reidewald is doing the midfield job HC does and doing it very well. Surely we sign an actual right back.

I’m not against it though, always liked him and loved having him here.

As much as his versatility, our vulnerability in the last 20-30 minutes of some matches this season might make Hamza an attractive proposition, if Leicester will let him go.

No idea if available data would support this, but you’d imagine he’d be a decent “help close the game out” option for us.

Given his reported wages and the fact he wouldn’t likely be ahead of Reiderwald in midfield or Seriki at right back I personally hope we’re no where near him.

I like him, but that money would be far better used elsewhere imo.

We could probably get 2/3 decent loans in for the cost of Hamza.

When I saw him come on in midfield I was pleased, I think he's a far better right back who drifts into the middle to give the midfield some extra cover.

Like him but as many have said, too much in wages for a probable back up.

A good player. I'd be concerned if we signed him as the competition to Seriki however as he'd be expensive so Wilder would probably feel obligated to play him most games over Seriki, despite the obvious loss of attacking quality
