Apart from thst weird 1st half v Pompey, I thought Clarke was ok. Tried to get forward, very good in the air. Nothing spectacular but I thought he was a small upgrade on Gilchrist

But it seems unlikely he'd get or stay fit.

Yeah I saw him but it was just six matches and that's not that many to judge. Look at Bindon as an example. I'm not saying Clarke is great but it's as a squad player and we can spend the remainder of the budget on areas that are more pressing and with players who will start most likely. Seriki isn't highly unlikely to be displaced so we don't need to spend big to buy a back up. That's my logic anyway.

I would not sign Harry Clarke for his fitness record. But I would not write him off as a s''t footballer because of the handful of games for us last season. He has a very good record at this level prior to that. How many players have we seen be bobbins for a whole season, then turn from frog to prince. After all, we are I assume looking at someone as backup to Seriki. So an experienced Champ player, who is available to be a backup/competition, is pretty reasonable. Again, I would not sign him, but that is because of his fitness issues.
