Clough says no further bids for Harry Maguire. Lyle Taylor and Febian Brandy could soon be on the move #sufc

Clough says he's close to signing James Wallace. Still wants a striker and full-back. Interest in Kieron Freeman remains #sufc

Nigel Clough says he doesn't expect to have Conor Coady or John Brayford back for next season "they're probably a bit beyond us"

That's a pisser. Coady could be got for less than £1m. Let's hope NC discovers 2 similar for next season.

I think it's more to do with wages and the fact there will be Chamiponship interest for Coady - and Ole Gunner wants to play Brayf.

I suspect if Brayford doesn't get a chance or slips down the pecking order, we likely could get him back on loan again in Jan like before.

All part of the game. Until they are elsewhere I would take any comments to the press part of potentially ongoing negotiations.

Totally understand about brayford and coady, had we gone up in the playoffs (a miracle I know) then the budget would have been big enough easily to go for coady and another loan for brayford..

Were not daft, we know our limitations..

Coady - not seen much of a rumoured queue for him? He's also in a position less of a priority. Puts us in a better position to try and take him on loan or cheaper later on.

Brayford - Can't see him going anywhere till Cardiff have been back on the training ground or even into the start of the season.

As Flatulent_Bob says, part of the game. Both aspirational targets, we'll do well if we get either, but today's comments certainly don't mean game over.

I would be happy with Kieron Freeman given that Brayford is way off our level.
He did enough to impress in his spell at the Lane.

Pleased to hear that Taylor and Brandy are probably off elsewhere - need to get rid of the baggage

With the number of midfielders Clough is signing at the moment I cannot see how he will be in for Coady at all. The Wallace interest also shows this and the fact that McGinn, the younger, will be staying at St Mirren (or off to a club with a bigger pot to piss in). Baxter is really a midfielder as well - so we are not short on cover in that dept.

Not sure about the striker situation at the moment - hoping that he has a surprise up his sleeve later on. McNulty is a promising youngster and Porter is a reasonable substitute to offer a slight change but we all know that he is not the man that will fire us into a winning position in the league. Until this critical position is filled I am not so sure we will be a threat - certainly we now have the players to create chances - we need the finisher to do the final job. Maybe that's the selling point that Clough is developing - momentum, facilities, support, and a squad of players that should create lots of chances for a decent striker to score a shed load of goals.

Wouldn't be surprised if Coady ent to Brighton now. High end Championship team with Sami Hypia in charge that play proper football.

If Carroll can go for stupid money then why can't Maguire.

I say £20mil for Maguire.

When you put it like that I agree.

If he went for £3m though, I think that would be enough to get in suitable replacements and represent good business.

If Carroll can go for stupid money then why can't Maguire.

He was bought by an elite Premiership club from another Premiership club. If Liverpool come in for Harry, I would expect them to pay a lot more than a Championship club. The Carroll sale isn't a reasonable comparison.

At £2m (without the peripheral bolt-on nonsense) you have to seriously consider whether a sale would be best, on balance, for OUR club, and that's all that matters. At say £3m, you don't have to think for long.

It looks like we should expect a new fresh faced look for United next season again, I'm liking the signings so far but we still got holes to fill before the season starts.
