Don't know if you remember the big ginger Barnsley identical twins at the forefront of their mob? both had combat jackets on and nobody fancied a pop at them. You're right, Barnsley never came on the Shoreham, none of the local teams (except Wednesday) ever did.yes your right shazza we went on bus but heard about the battle on barnsley station rough lot those dingles and didnt take kindly to dee-dars on their end mind cant remember em ever being on the shoreham but back in those days away fans went on the home teams end

yes remember this game silent very dissapointing result if memory serves me correctly it was a bitterly cold night spurs beat us.comfortably even without the greatest striker ive ever seen jimmy greaves28/12/1965
Blades 1 (B. Wagstaff) Spurs 3 (Jones 2, Saul)
It was the only match out of seven in the 1960s that Spurs won at our ground and they did it without Jimmy Greaves (who was sidelined from the team for three months due to Hepatitis) who had scored in each of the five games he played at the Lane.

Was at this game, remember the Gilzean goal well. Blades fans chanting "robbery" at the final whistle. Plenty there for that game. Deserved at least a point.27/12/1965

Arsenal fans didnt like their manager Billy Wright.Bigger crowd than at Highbury, Arsenal against the MASSIVEST team in football history.
We did during the 1970-71 and 1971-72 seasons, Not sure if it was cos Eddie kept winning or losing the toss!remember those days silent was a tradition in the 60s if we kicked towards lane end in 2nd half of games
the most famous being tudor's winner through grummitts legs of course and wernt our 2 headed goals against everton in 70 in the 2nd half silent ?We did during the 1970-71 and 1971-72 seasons, Not sure if it was cos Eddie kept winning or losing the toss!

Nice to read the great Peter Howard. Along with Reg Whittaker, Tony Pritchett was absolute class as a reporter.6/1/1966

Phil May, that brings back memories. Dick Taylor was part of the very early Rollin' Stones before he decided to go to college.Went to see The Pretty Things at the Esquire, all nighter on NYE 1965. It finished 6.AM NYD. Then we hitch-hiked to Mansfield ( for what reason I can't even imagine) Hitch-hiked back, then went to The Lane for the Northampton game. Seems we didn't need sleep at 14 years old.
Phil May had the longest hair in pop at the time pal. Saw some great bands at The Esquire, best being The Who in early 66, did you ever go there mate?Phil May, that brings back memories. Dick Taylor was part of the very early Rollin' Stones before he decided to go to college.
