I do however remember a lorry losing control going down the really steep bit of Gleadless Road, across Leighton Road and crashing into the Ward family's tower house. ruined our gang's football pitch.......

Gary Ridgeway, aka The Green River Killer. I live pretty close to Seattle where he carried out a lot of his crimes but in two weeks I move the 330 miles to Walla Walla where Mr. R is incarcerated. My stepson was a prison guard there and came into contact with him on occasion, said he was just a quiet bloke who shuffled through life never causing any bother. I've read a lot of books about serial killers, I just can't get my head around them being relatively normal one minute and a raving fucking lunatic the next...
