Wonder how Mee got skinned knees!
Sydie peck had a cut on his shin as well.Dont know how big his shin pads are ! Must be small as they cant be seen from this photo ! He risks seriouse injury each match as this is his normal attire .
The law stating players should where shin pads is just abused by a lot of plays playing with shin pads no bigger than a postage stamp.
Peck is in more danger than most as he throws himself into tackles in all directions, which is brave but dangerous to himself.
I would think hes been told about this but obviously prefers to play with small ones.

Think it was more to do with the fact the grass became astro almost bang on the white lines of the pitch, so as soon as they slid off the pitch they were on the hard (and probably cheap) stuff.

Still baffled as to how Japhet got a cut on his eye after the assault by Jamal Lowe mind (that somehow wasn't even a foul), was something thrown from the crowd as he didn't appear to hit his head anywhere?

I thought the same thing, he didn't seem to get hit in the head by Lowe when I watched the replay

I likened it to a Sunday league game when you play a team that bad it's dangerous, they were just that far behind us all they could do was boot us in air!

I thought that re sponsor boards. Think ref went over to pitch and seemed to point something out. Cretins were chucking stuff on all time

Them advertising boards were a disgrace not sure how that was allowed

Couldnt have been more than 1 metre max coyld get about 2 steps in for throw in

Its all fun and games but a few non league players have had serious injuries/died when they have had hoardings/steps around non league grounds

Bloke died other week I believe.

Sunderland purposely moved them closer to stop Arsenal (I think) long throws

Always think old Trafford is mad as a fair old slope just off pitch.

Doesn't even make sense for them to do it either when Ingelsson has a weapon of a throw on him, one of the only levellers they could possibly have!

Been in plenty of them and not usually on the "good team" haha, granted we were excellent, they had that half chance early doors, that was well defended but other than that they seemed non existent. The worry for me was we needed that 1st half goal, just to settle things down a bit. We could (penalty not given) and should (Ings) have been 3 up at the break. Although they didn't show anything in that first half, until we were 2-0 up, I was slightly concerned, going into the 2nd half, they might have caught a lucky break and equalised but it was plain sailing and refreshing to be knocking on the door and even though we won 3-0 talking about the other chances that we should have scored. Canon through on the keeper, the Bamford flick if he left that it probably goes in from O'Hare, that is 7-0 and it's not like that would have flattered us either as if the penalty had been given on Tanganga, the other opportunities with a bit more composure end up in the back of the net we would have been setting even more records. Campbell showed how its done and hopefully more to come from him now too.

There were some nasty challenges from them
Wouldn't be surprised if we're missing a few next game

The ref plyed it straight, but arguably let quite a bit of stuff go, because it was a derby. In a standard league game, another ref coud have given them another half dozen yellows.

1000011059.webp1000011059.webpat large grounds the run off should be 4m smaller grounds 3m those electronic hoardings were set about 2m ,somebody should know the rules about safety at Hillsborough ,oh wait

Is there a rule stating the minimum distance from the pitch to advertising hoardings? I would say it was 6' at most.

Also at both Blackburn and Man U ( Rusty view mentioned this) there is only about 3'-4' around the pitch before a steep slope - surely that shouldn't be allowed!

Fifa rule is smaller grounds 3m on the sides 4m behind the goals
  • Width: A minimum of 3 yards (2.74m) is recommended around the perimeter of the pitch.
  • Surface: Should be the same material as the pitch, such as natural grass or a green, performance-standard 3G artificial turf.
  • Obstructions: No barriers, fences, dugouts, or floodlight columns are permitted in the run-off area

we should have won at least 6 - 0 and pig fans know it we let em off the hook yesterday and could have completely erased boxing day 79

I get that, and you're right, but thate almost 50years ago now. 2 generations weren't alive to see it.

I completely get where you are coming from ancient, but we are still a work in progress and for example post January I absolutely believe we will have more productive options at the top end of the pitch
We did not erase Boxing Day 79 per se, but we recorded the highest away Derby victory and I’m confident that when they come to ours next year, we will beat that Boxing Day hoodoo….

Crikey the only way that can happen is if we get relegated with them. No thanks!!

Sadly, the Boxing Day tag will remain forever, given the date of that game. If we had beaten them 4-0 the November 23rd Massacre doesn't roll off the tongue. Last season we played them on Remembrance Sunday I think, so that would work - Remembrance Sunday Massacre. Or would it, not very politically correct and flies in the face of what the day is about.

With SYP being what they are I cannot ever see another game being played on a public holiday, boxing day, new year's day, easter monday, good friday. etc. so the ring of the Boxing Day Massacre will continue for years, decades to come. So be it, but perhaps we should change the words to our ''hark now hear the united sing, the wednesday ran away' and replace boxing day with ''wembley''.

The steep slope at Old Trafford is there as the pitch was raised up to allow them to put the larger Champions League advertising hoardings around the pitch during Champions League games, if the pitch was at ground level the first 4 rows of seats behind the goal would have to be taped off as spectators in those seats would not be able to see the pitch inside the first 6 yards during European games.. Other top grounds like Emirates, Etihad also have raised pitches for this same reason but as the crowd are further back the slope is not as steep off the side of the pitch. Spurs got round it at their new ground by having the first rows much higher than the playing surface.
