Are we letting the grass grow under our feet

If i'm right, next season will be our last playing on grass. Next close season we are getting desso installed (hybrid grass) which most prem teams and wembley have. So it better be a good 'un, the end of an era. A sad day for grass;):(

I was told it was a two year project to lay it correctly because of the underwork that needs to be done. The undersoil hearing is also been reworked. The Rotherham pitch is the same as what we are laying - I was at their semi final last week and was able to go out onto the pitch and it was in stunning condition to be honest. The commitment cost wise from the club is massive - and it does not effect FFP !!!!

desso is just a type of grass, it was cultured near aberystwyth at the national institute for grass, it more ryegrass and fescue hybrid that is harder wearing. thats the type of job I wanted , watching grass grow

eeerm no it isn't.
From Wiki: Desso GrassMaster is a sports playing field surface composed of natural grass combined with artificial fibres. The artificial grass fibres are injected 20 centimetres (7.9 in) deep, and cover about 3% of the surface. While the grass is growing, the roots intertwine with the artificial fibres. The designers claim this anchors the field to create a solid, even structure with good drainage and 'playing comfort'.

its not new using man made fibres to strengthen the root but its still a natural grass , with reinforced roots

It is indeed. I wonder where the money is coming from? And making decent offers for players as well? If I didn't know better, I'd think we had a genuinely wealthy benefactor committed to significantly backing our club. What a deluded pipedreamer I am!

I think they missed a trick here. A square yard of the hallowed turf: £10....

They would be queueing round the south stand car park...

(10% discount for season ticket holders (Monday) / blades revival (Tuesday) / loyalty points holders over 2,500 as long as you joined the Membership scheme (Weds.) / anyone with Blades tattoos, Brayford Beards or 5UFC number plates (Thurs.) / General Sale (Fri/Sat/Sun)...

I have a few pals who are quite interested in synthesising grass...last time I went out with em' I had to retire 'early' with a flashing bout of paranoia...

Be warned!

Look at where they've taken the top layer off. Are we having a shorter wider pitch next year?

They tend to move the pitch round a bit most years.

With all the problems they had on the South Stand touchline (the Somme) this year, they might just be shifting the playing surface further towards John Street.

One request for the OCD amongst us.... can the halfway line actually line up with the halfway point of John Street this year?

From that pic, are they moving it possibly a little towards the Kop end as well, Linz?
