I sincerely wish him all the best, but this is a good decision

I tend to agree, he doesn't look confident or sure of himself since the injury. Shaun Miller of a couple of seasons ago yes.

He will bite our bottoms next season, watch this space.
Still better to move on because i doubt his fitness.
Good luck shaun, thanks for being in the right place at the right time at craven cottage.

Best decision for club and player. We need fresh blood up front, he wasnt getting games and he needs a fresh break after his injury. Wish him all the luck in the world.

With respect, which part of his last 8 seasons do you fear someone else will unlock that we couldn't?
Don't know if youv'e noticed, but we have this uncanny knack of fucking any strikers up what come to our club, apart from the one obvious, can you remember the last time we had a striker who scored 25-30 goals in one season

This should be confirmed sometime today as Clough said in his interview last week that clubs have till the 16th to publish the list. Key question marks I guess are whether Kennedy's on this list and if Porter's agreed what are presumably reduced terms.

Fair point, but have you studied his career pre us? One fourth division season yielded just into double figures. Is this the quality to aim for in a team that wants automatic promotion? Clearly Clough thinks not.

The Blades can confirm the retained list, which has been submitted to the Football League.

Mark Howard, Bob Harris and Terry Kennedy's contract options have been taken up and they will remain at Bramall Lane next season.

However, Matt Hill, Shaun Miller, Chris Porter, Darryl Westlake, Sean McGinty, Elliott Whitehouse, Jasper Johns, Jordan Hodder and Jahmal Smith have been released.

Blades boss Nigel Clough commented: "There have been some tough decisions but we need to make way for new faces. It is difficult, especially when you are dealing with good characters.

"Chris Porter's situation is a little different. We've not taken up his option and because of that he has to go on the list of free transfers but we are still talking with regards to a new contract."

It has already been announced that a total of 11 players have been offered professional contracts following successful scholarships at the Academy.

I reckon there will be more exits for those players under contract that NC does not see as playing much of a part in next saeson's campaign. The three that come to mind really are:

Lyle Taylor
Brandy
McGinn - unless he keeps him as cover

So they are trying to get Porter back, but only for less money. Smart move.

So what about Taylor/Brandy?

Are they to be sold on? Thought I read somewhere a while back they were on their way out if offers came in?

Feel for Elliot Whitehouse, I do believe Clough has made the right decision in regards to him but he looked so promising a few years ago. Hope he manages to find another team and carries on his full time professional career rather than stepping down to part time football.

The offer put forward to Porter will be a test of his character, he has obviously been offered less money and probably been told we will be bringing in at least two strikers who will be ahead of him in the pecking order. What professional footballer is happy with sitting on the bench every week (apart from reserve goalkeepers who seem to love it) if I was him I would move on to a low league 1/ high league 2 team. He would be guaranteed more games and will probably be picking up a bit of extra cash if he's playing every week with bonuses etc.

Glad we have managed to retain Harris, if we get him fully fit and clear from injuries for the start of the season he will be a great asset to the club.

Ched Evans got more than 30

In fairness to miller he had a shocking injury, said it at the time and throughout his and Diegos injuries that it takes time to come back from an injury like that. But moreover the confidence goes. Everytime you run, twist, turn and tackle you feel you'll do it again. It's not a nice feeling.

Why isn't Marcus Williams on the list?

Good list of released players.

None were first team regulars & we really need some fresh blood in.
